The breeze swayed through his tied hair, and his mocha skin cooled under the shade. He propped himself up against the large oak tree, which leaves glistened purple, as he watched the clouds in the sky; and you watched him.

You had been here before, many times. A recurring dream. It started off, just the scenery, but you could always feel someones presence, someone with you- and then he appeared, one day. You had never seen him before but you felt like you had known him for an eternity. You couldn't speak to one another, but you sat, hands intertwined, and watched the clouds- and that was enough for you.

It was a dream, you knew this, but it felt so real- no, he felt so real. The warmth and lines of his palm, and the way his honey-brown eyes looked at you with tenderness as he smiled. You always had trouble sleeping but since he appeared, you slept soundly and woke refreshed.

You figured he was a guardian angel of sorts, sent from the heavens to protect you while you slept- but he seemed to be more than that; the gods had given you someone to love.

He was your soulmate. You were dreambound.

It was just unfortunate that he belonged to your subconscious and visited you while you were asleep.

The sapphire-red Phoenix that perched above you on the oak, onlooking, squawked. Time was up. You looked over unto him and he smiled goodbye, like he usually did.

You began slipping back into conciousness, but something stopped you. Your heart beat fast in panic.

He had grabbed you- He cupped your face gently, his face deadpanned and eyes glazed with seriousness.

The Phoenix above you was screaming, flapping its wings and flying around in circles.

"I. Am. Near." He mustered, voice smooth like butter and deep.

Suddenly, everything went black. It felt like you were falling down an endless tunnel.

You jolted forward, in fear. You were in your bedroom now, surrounded by all things familiar. You held a hand securely, over your racing heart, regaining your breath. What was that? What happened?

He had never spoke before, EVER. Not a single word had ever peeped from his mouth. And the first time, to say something as ominous as that? What was going on in your head? Were you okay? That, you didn't know. Your stomach did summer-saults and your heart hung heavily, full of unease. You felt like that was going to be the last time you saw him again.

You stood from your bed, and tried to forget, going about your day. You dressed in your work uniform since the day was Friday, did your hair and brushed your teeth. You grabbed some breakfast and mosied off to work. The whole day you felt...off, a sickening feeling in your gut but most notably, tired.

The day came to a halt after your twelve-hour shift was finished. You jingled the keys and slid your door open. You felt exhausted, both mentally and physically. You slipped off your work shoes and trudged into the kitchen to grab a snack before bed. A cheese slice would do you justice. You devoured it eagerly, and then headed to your bedroom. You stripped down to your underwear and climbed into bed, snuggling into your favorite colored duvet. Your mind weary and gut still in anguish, you slowly drifted off to the sound of your own rythmatic, heart beat.
