Taytum

We're driving down a empty paved road surrounded by forest. It's pouring rain and thunder rumbles loudly oudside following a bright flash of lightening. I leaned my head against the window and just wish that we were home.

A growing feeling of dread twists in my stomach as we continue to drive along the road and I have the unmistakable feeling that something bad is going to happen, i'm sure of it.

Suddenly we turn a corner and we see a set of two bright lights swerving along the road coming right for our car crashing together then disaster happens.

The sound of the car flipping into the forest rings through my ears.

The sound crashing metal.

The sound my father screaming.

But I can't do anything about it.

The sounds they just keep going through my head.

I don't want this.

The sounds have to go.

I put my hands to my ears.

But the sounds remain.

They just seem to get harder.

They keep coming back.

I start screaming.

Nobody hears me.

Suddenly I feel pain.

I feel pain everywhere....

Daan

"What are you doing here?" I asked confused for the second time.

But before anyone could answer, Taytum interrupted us.

She started screaming and crying.

I turned around as quickly as possible and ran to her bed.

I pulled the covers away and lifted her up.

She started kicking and screaming louder.

Suddenly her eyes opened and she started to cry even harder.

"Shhh... baby. It's okay" I whispered.

When she heard my voice she calmed down a bit. She clung tightly.

"Did you have a bad dream, little one?" I questioned.

She nodded as she sucked her thumb, her tears still in her eyes.

I wiped her tears from her cheeks and stroked her hair.

"I hurt," she said softly.

"Where are you hurting baby girl?"  I asked.

She pointed to her ribs.

"I'll go get the nurse," said Beth, who had also woken up. She walked away.

I sat down on the bed and placed Taytum on my lap.

The door opened and I looked up.

"Beth say we could go in," said Lisa, standing in the doorway.

"Yes. But please don't be too loudly. Taytum is a bit upset and is not feeling very well today" I replied.

She nodded and walked in, followed by the whole team.

There was plenty of room in the room as we actually have a room for 4 people.

Everyone sat down on the sofa or grabbed a chair.
