Tw: minor panic attack

There was so much movement going on around the tall man as he tried to remain focused on his work. His head felt like it was spinning and he just wanted to go to sleep, but sadly he had decided to ignore his assignments until the last minute. You see, John has a problem with procrastination. He had a week to complete this assignment, which is due in an hour and he hadn’t even started.

John had his phone in his lap along with his tangled headphones which he yanked out of his ears as his battery life depleted. He was listening to music to tune out the rest of the world as he tried to speed run through this assignment, but his phone died and the sounds of the world invaded his mind. He tried to keep his focus, coping far more of his answers from google than he originally planned, but the stress of the nearing deadline and the sounds of the people shambling around him made his anxiety skyrocket.

His eyes kept darting to the small clock in the corner of the school issued laptop. He mentally cursed the school system for blocking all of the music he listened to as he stressed over the completion of this assignment. He received an email from his professor and opened it. It read “Hello Students! Just a reminder that your assignments are due in 35 minutes! Be sure to turn it in! This is worth 20% of your grade!”

John’s heart sank and his stress level spiked. He wanted to call Jaren. Jaren always knew how to calm him down. His leg bounced with anxiety as he rushed through the last few questions. John did a quick proof-read and edited a few answers so they didn’t perfectly match what he found on google. John tried to submit his assignment and got an error claiming his wi-fi wasn’t connected. He quickly stood up and moved closer to the building of the restaurant as his bag sat in wait on the chair of the outdoor seating. He refreshed his page a few times and tried to submit the assignment again, and again. John started panicking and pressing submit over and over. It finally submitted with two minutes to spare.

John let out a deep sigh of relief and tears welled up in his eyes. He packed his bag and began heading to his best friend’s house. His stress levels didn’t settle, even after his assignment was completed and submitted. He had tears rolling down his cheeks as he approached his friends home, knocking on the door. The door opened and he was met with the smiling face of his best friend.

“John!- Woah, what’s wrong?” Jaren’s face dropped with worry and John laughed a bit, tears still streaming down his face.

“I’m okay, Jare,” He smiled at his friend. “You know the assignment that was due today?”

“Yeah?”

“Well, I didn’t start it when it was assigned,” He laughed and Jaren looked confused. “I started it an hour before it was due, and then turned it in with two minutes left, after struggling to turn it in because of a wi-fi error.”

“Oh, John,” Jaren looked sympathetically at his taller friend. “Do you wanna make Pizza Rolls and cuddle?” John nodded and pouted slightly.

“Can I get ibuprofen, too? I gave myself a headache by crying,” He laughed and Jaren smiled at him.

“Of course, dummy. Now, come inside.” Jaren pulled his taller friend inside and closed the door. As John went into the living room and flopped on the couch, Jaren went in the kitchen and started making the Pizza Rolls. He grabbed an ibuprofen and a glass of water, bringing them to John who had his face buried in the pillows. Jaren sat beside him and the taller looked up at him. He smiled and leaned down to kiss his forehead. John’s face flushed pink and he buried his face in the pillows again.

“Fuck off! You always do that!” He whined into the pillow, causing Jaren to laugh.

“I can’t help it! You look so cute when you go all pink.” John shoved himself farther into the pillows. “C’mon, dummy, I have your drugs,” He giggled. John sat up and took the ibuprofen with the water.
