No way this was going to turn out good. Why did she say yes to this in the first place anyway? He was her best friend. You don't go on dates with your best friend. On the other hand, was he really ever just a best friend to her? If she was being completely honest, she had always had feelings for him.

When she would watch him learn his lines she couldn't help but notice how hot he was. When he was so invested in something.
She would never miss to watch a single movie of him. She even flew out for some of the premieres or red carpet events. She would cancel her plans if he needed someone to take care of Tessa.

Ever since they met for the first time
the two of them had been inseparable. They cared for each other. They were there for each other. But neither of them had ever admitted anything.

Until last week, when Tom had asked her out on a date. He wanted to take her to a nice place for dinner. Today this day had come and she still didn't know what to think about it. Was he just being polite? Was he messing with her? No way this would be an actual date date right?

Suddenly the doorbell rang and she jumped up from the spot on the couch she'd been waiting at. She smoothed out her dress before she walked over to the door. One last glance in the mirror before she opened the door for him.

And there he was, perfect Tom, all dressed up nicely in some black pants and a white shirt.

"You once told me that no one has ever gotten you flowers so here you go."

She blushed in surprise as Tom handed her a bouquet of her favorite flowers whilst nervously rubbing the back of his neck with his other hand.

"They are so pretty thank you" she gushed as she stepped aside to let him into her apartment.

"I'll put them in some water and then we can head off alright?" she left him in the hallway for a few moments.

He looked around nervously. He'd been at her place plenty of times already but nevertheless right now it felt like he'd' never stepped in here before. He took a look over at the huge mirror.

Did he even look good enough for her? As he had lied eyes on her when she had opened the door before, his jaw almost dropped. He's always found her beautiful, obviously, because she really was, but tonight she looked absolutely stunning. Not because she had dressed up too much or anything like that it was just everything about her.

"I'm back let's go" she interrupted his thoughts and he held the door open for her as they left her apartment. They walked down the stairs to his car in silence, neither of them really knowing what to say.

Could they talk about the stuff they'd usually talk about? But this was so special. Both of them couldn't come up with a topic that they felt fit the occasion.

"Where are we going?" she finally spoke up when they entered Tom's car.

"It's a surprise" he said, smirking as she rolled her eyes at him. He knew she always acted as if she hated surprises whilst deep down she thought there was nothing lovelier than a surprise someone came up with only for her.

They drove about twenty minutes, the car windows down, letting in a light breeze of the heat wave air. Tom's eyes were glued to the road although he couldn't help it but look over at her every once in a while.

Her hair was softly blown by the air and she was smiling but he knew in her head she was going through all the possible places he might be taking her.

"Here we are" Tom eventually spoke up again as he parked the car. He got out and quickly opened up the door for her.

"What a gentleman you can be" she chuckled and he blushed. Laughing she linked her arm with his and he guided her to the entrance of a rather small looking building. When they got in a waiter was already waiting for them and led them to the back of the restaurant and outside on the terrace.

She gasped. This place was beyond beautiful. The tables were separated by bushes and trees so that every table had its own corner and chains of lights which were placed in the trees made the atmosphere very cozy.

When they reached their table, they sat down and the waiter handed them the menus. Before he left he already took their orders for drinks and Tom suggested wine which she agreed on.

"I've never seen you drink wine. Usually it's me emptying a bottle while you stick to your beer" she pointed out as the waiter had left.

Tom shrugged. "Special occasions require special drinks."

As she didn't know what to answer to that she focused on the menu which only started to make her freak out. This place was expensive. What was she supposed to order? It felt like the waiter was back within seconds and she hadn't even been past the appetizers.

She motioned for Tom to order first. What he ordered sounded delicious.

"I'll get the same, thank you" she simply stated as the waiter was ready for her order.

When he left Tom was the one chuckling this time. "Aren't you vegetarian?"

She looked at him in confusion when it finally hit her. He had ordered the paella with meat. Her cheeks reddened but Tom was quick to get up.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of that." As he was gone she buried her face in her hands. This was just so embarrassing. Only a couple minutes later, she felt a pair of hands grab for hers and gently pull them away from her face.

Tom was brushing his thumbs over the back of her hands as he held onto them.

"Hey what's up? Is something wrong?"

He was carefully eying her. Was something bothering her? Did he do something wrong? Maybe the whole idea of going out with his best friend just wasn't a good one. But he liked her so much. Oh, who was he even kidding! He loved her for the shake of god. He just had to make a move otherwise her presence in his life would have eventually killed him.
