You were back at home and you had decided that you were going to pay Yamaguchi a visit instead of the other way around. You had noticed the change in Yamaguchi's mood and you wanted to figure out what was wrong because you hated it when anyone was sad, especially when it was Yamaguchi.

You climbed out of your window and knocked on Tadashi's window. The curtains were drawn which was unusual for him unless he was about to go to sleep. He didn't open the window, so you knocked again. He still didn't answer so you climbed back through your window. Why wasn't he answering? You began to get really worried.

You walked outside and knocked on his door instead. His mother answered the door and blinked in surprise.

"(Y/N) why are you here? You usually go through Tadashi's window" she said worriedly.

"Sorry but Tadashi didn't answer when I knocked on his window, so I came to see if he was here."

"He definitely is, come in, that's very strange," she ushered you into the house.

"If you wouldn't mind checking on him, I would really appreciate it" she said as she smiled at you quickly before returning to her work.

"Of course," you smiled at the woman and took your shoes off and rushed to Tadashi's room.

You knocked on the door and your heart sank as you heard the boy sniffling from the other side.

"Go away mum," he called out to you. You opened the door a crack and peeked in.

"Tadashi, it's me" you said gently.

The boy sprung up and quickly wiped his tears away, but it was too late. You had already noticed his tear stained face and red, puffy eyes.

"(Y/N)" he stuttered eyes wide, "why didn't you come through the window?"

"You didn't answer...Tadashi what's wrong?" you asked as you quickly ran over to him.

"Nothing," he sniffled.

"We both know that's not true" you whispered quietly.

You stared at the boy, examining his face carefully. His beautiful freckled cheeks were glistening with fresh tears and his eyelashes were glued together from the tears. You quietly ran back to the door and closed it behind you and before making your way back over to him. You sat next to him on his bed and engulfed him in a big hug, rocking him back and forth. He collapsed into your arms and began sobbing into your shoulder and you stroked his hair as you gently whispered to him that it was okay. When his shaky sobs had slowly died down you pulled away and looked him dead in the eyes.

"Tadashi tell me what's wrong, I can't make it better if you don't tell me" you told him softly.

Yamaguchi looked down almost guiltily because he knew that you wouldn't leave until he told you.

"Am I not good enough?" he asked quietly.

"What?" you were shocked, you hadn't realised that he was doubting himself, and this badly as well.

"I'm the only first year not on the starting line up and it's because I suck."

You looked at him softly as he stared down at his bedsheets.

"Tadashi, look at me," you said gently as you lifted his head up to meet your (E/C) eyes, his eyes were brimming with tears which caused your heat to shatter just a little.

"You are good enough, and you know that, or else they would have kicked you off the team," the boy looked down again but you pressed both your palms on each side of his face and forced him to look back up at you.

"Even if you aren't good enough for them you'll always be good enough for me, " you said seriously, and you meant every word, you had only just begun to realise this but you loved this boy with all your heart and you wanted him to know that, even if you wouldn't confess to him.

"If you keep doubting your abilities, then the only thing you can do is try to improve your skills, that what you did back in middle school, right? Who cares if you aren't as talented as the others, you work hard and that's even more impressive, that makes you better than everyone because you don't just breeze through life, you actually try, and that means that you will succeed eventually even if you don't right now!"

Yamaguchi looked at you with wide eyes, shocked at your sudden speech, but then he smiled.

"Thank you (Y/N) I really needed that, wow I really don't deserve you" he sighed.

"Yes, you do, you do deserve me, you deserve everything" you reassured him quietly.

Yamaguchi was silent as he laid on his bed, did the person he had liked for who knows how long seriously just say that to him? He must be dreaming right now, no one could possibly like him, right?

Your phone went off.

"Sorry, Tadashi, my dad wants me back for dinner."

He sat up and looked at you briefly before sighing and looking down, he couldn't tell you that.

"Goodbye Tadashi," you gently took his face in your hands and pressed a soft kiss on his nose before climbing out his window and back into your bedroom.

Yamaguchi just sat there as he watched your figure disappear. He could not believe that you had just done that, and neither could you.

AAAAAAHHHHHH this was very difficult to write but it must be done. I feel like people just dwindle down Yamaguchi's character to being Tsukki and they forget the fact that he's not naturally talented at volleyball but he still went out of his way to improve himself because he wasn't on the starting line up and he didn't just sit there and sulk about it.
