Close call

Ellie's P.O.V

"Let's get the Fuck outta here." I whisper.
"Okay."

We both crawled to the door but it's stuck.
"Clickers." Valentina tugs my shirt and i look behind me.

There they were. Waiting to hear any kind of sound. I say there were about seven of them and two runners.

Valentina tapped my arm and pointed to an open window, "Through there."

I quietly helped her up and she held her hand out to help me. Valentina dropped a glass bottle that broke and it brought the infected's attention.

"Pull me up!" I yell at Valentina.

She pulled me up but then fell down on the other side four feet to the ground,"Ahhh!"

I look at her then around and see runners running towards her. I shot some of them but there were too many.
"Val get up!" I yell but she looked almost unconscious.

I get down quickly and pick her up.

Valentina's P.O.V

I woke up by Ellie who's breathing fast as if she ran 5 miles straight. I was bouncing in her arms then i look behind her. Over 15 runners were chasing after us.

"Holy shit!" I yell in fear.
"Can you run?"
"Yes."

Ellie tries to put me down when she falls over debris laying on the floor.
She falls to the ground while i was thrown 2 feet away from her. I landed on metal making me cry out in pain. I saw Ellie get up and run to me helping me to my feet.
"Come on!" She says as we make and exit out the mall and see our horse.

"You ride and I'll shoot." Ellie said.
"Okay."

I get on the horse and Ellie sits behind me. I click my tongue and controlled the horse to run off.
Meanwhile Ellie shot off the runners closer to us. After we fled the area Shimmer slowed down.

"That was too close." Ellie said.
"Yea." I add.
"You okay?"
"Yea why?"

Ellie pressed behind my waist and i yelled in pain.

"This doesn't seem like okay."
"I'll be fine."
"You sure."
"Yea."
"Sorry for throwing you across the room."
"Ellie you tripped!" I yelled playfully.
"But i should have been careful."
"There were infected. Obviously you were careful enough."
"But-" I cut her off.
"Just shut up."

Ellie laughed and put my hair to the side.
"Uhh." I said.
Ellie said nothing and kissed my neck.
"Why are you like this?"
"You love it."
"Yea i do." I laughed.

4 hours later

"Ellie I'm tired." I groan.
"You wanna stop somewhere?"
"Yes please!"
"There should be an abandoned house or something somewhere near."
"I really hope it's close."
"Oh look. There's a small shack over there." Ellie points out.
"Our luck is showing!"
"I don't believe in luck."
"Why not?"
"Don't know."

Ellie gets off the horse and tries to open the door.

"So?"
"It's blocked."
"Fuck!"
"I'll find another way."

Ellie goes around then comes to me with a smile.

"What?"
"There is a small hole for us to crawl through."
"What about Shimmer?"
"I'll figure out how to open that garage door."

I get off Shimmer and lead her behind where the hole is.

"Is it clear inside?"
"I haven't went in."
"Oh. Let's clear it then."
"I'll go first."
"Be careful Ellie."
"You know i will."

Ellie crawls through the hole and i hear nothing.

"Ellie?" No answer.
"Ellie!" Still nothing.
"You better not be playing around!" I yell.

Fuck it. I crawl through the hole and as soon as i get up someone grabs me from behind.

"Ahh!"

I start to panic. I kick behind me and hear a familiar,"Ow!"

"What the fuck is wrong with you!?" I yell at Ellie who is gripping her leg where i hurt her.
"I wanted to see if you cared about me."
"Wha-?"
"And if you could defend yourself."
"Of course i care about you."
"I also wanted to see how you'd react."
"Ellie that's bullshit!"

Ellie laughs and goes to open the garage door. She goes outside go get Shimmer in then closes it.

"You okay?"
"Fuck no I'm not."
"I get it. I got you something."
"What to make up for what you did?"
"I got it because i love you. And to make up for scaring you." Ellie giggles.

I've never heard her giggle.

"What did you get me?"
"Remember when i asked you if you liked stuffed animals?"
"Mhm."
"Well i got you a small bear."
"You did.."
"Yea."

I've never seen Ellie so gentle and shy. She took off her backpack and took out a small brown bear. She walked to me, who i am standing still like a statue, and held my hand and looked me in the eye.

"I love you Val." She said giving me the bear.

She really meant it. I looked at her then the bear and back at her with tears. I jumped and said.

"Ellie i love you too."

She smiled and kissed me softly but passionately.

Ellie's P.O.V

I've never been so nervous and never truly meant most things i say. She is in tears and it makes me feel so.. I don't know.

"Come on. Let's rest before we hit the road for another three hours."
"Ellie promise me you won't leave me."

Fuck..

"Valentina i promise. I will never leave you."
"Okay."

Valentina leans against my chest and closes her eyes.
