Valentina's P.O.V

I couldn't get far from that place. I was on foot so resting was impossible. I had had enough and decided to look for shelter from the cold snow. I took shelter at the first thing I could find. A liquor store.

I stopped there for a few minutes to catch my breathe and eat a little something. All I had was a can of peaches. I ate them.

After I was done I heard voices. I peaked my head through the small crack of the door. It was Ellie along with Dina and Jesse.

Fuck.

I wasted no time and went through the back door. I had my gear on still so that was a good thing.

I ran out as far as I could and hid behind a tree.

Ellie's P.O.V

I follow the footprints behind a tree and see Valentina.

"Well shit." She says.
"Valentina!" I yell.
"There you are." Jesse says.
"Here I am."
"What the fuck were you thinking?" I yell at her.
"Look Ellie. You think I would still stay there after everything?" She exploded.
"Didn't we already talk about this?"
"Yes we did but can you blame me?"
"Valentina!"
"No Ellie."
"I'm sorry!" Dina jumps in.
"Look Dina you can keep Ellie. I don't have the heads for this."
"Val.." My face softens.
"And this bite mark. It has been two days. I should have already turned."
"I told you. You're immune."

Valentina looked at me,"Okay."

"Let's go back."
"Come on Val. Let's please get the hell out of here." Jesse comments.
"Fine. But don't expect anything for us." Valentina walks back.

I just stand there and close my eyes.

"I'm sorry Ellie." Dina puts a hand on my shoulder.
"It's okay."
"You sure?"
"It's fine."

I walk back to Shimmer. Dina and I hop on our horses.

"Let me go with you." I overhear Valentina ask Jesse.
"Hop on." He responds.

When we get back to camp the guy on the gates ask,"Have you seen Joel or Tommy?"

"No. Why? What happened?" Jesse asked him.
"They haven't come back."
"How long have they been gone?" I seek information.
"They left for patrol at exactly 5:55am."
"But it's 1: 24pm." Dina says.
"Maybe they went for a hike?"
"Without saying anything? No way."
"Maria asked me to inform you when you get back to look for them."
"We will be back." Jesse turns his horse so he is looking at Dina and I.

"Ellie." Dina exclaims.
"Yeah yeah." I spaced out for a while.

"Okay let's split up." I demand.
"I don't like you riding solo. We don't know what's out there." Jesse says.
"Exactly! What if they need help?"
"Okay, Valentina and I will head west. Dina can take south, and you and you come from the east. But be smart about it. Yeah?"
"Yeah." I whisper.

Jesse guides his horse as Valentina looks at me. I look back without saying anything. But she looks down. I also look down at her thighs. But I then focus on the road.

After about 30 minutes or so I have managed to come on a hill with my horse.

"Joel! Tommy!" I yell.

I look up ahead and stop my horse.

"Oh shit." I say looking down at a small house.

"How do I get down there?"

I ride my horse a bit more to hide her behind the tall snowed on trees. I then get down from her.

"Okay Shimmer." I say patting her mane.
