A new Journey

Ellie's P.O.V

It was morning. I open my eyes and look around. I felt weird. Was all that a nightmare? I hope it was. I remember everything from two nights ago. I put a hand on my chest tightly. I felt so broken and hurt. Sleeping is the only time I feel nothing.

I get up and walk to get my jacket. I look at my bed and see Valentina getting up.

"Morning." I say.
"Hey." She replies.

It was awkward.

I grab my gear and backpack. I walk outside without saying anything to Valentina.

I walk to the Joel's grave. I crouch down and put a hand on his stone. I start to get emotional. I sniff in. I play with the leaves fallen down from the tress.

I pick up my hand from the grave. I stay crouched for a few seconds just staring at the grave. I get up. I sigh and walk away. I walk towards Dina who was leaning on a bench.

"I want to stop at his house before we leave." I say looking at Dina.

"Just have to pick something up." I look at the ground.
"Okay." She softly says.

"I couldn't get to the horses. Looks like Tommy took one." She said walking.

"Now Maria got the stables locked down."
"Fucking Tommy." I scoff.

"We'll figure something else out on the way."

"A car or a horse or something.."
"Okay."
"This makes getting to Seattle a lot harder."
"Then it's going to be harder."
"You can still change your mind you know."
"I know."
"I just don't want you to feel like you have to."
"Ellie." Dina stopped me and put a hand on my cheek.

"You go. I go. End of story." She smiled at me.

I nod and keep walking.

Dina and I are a thing now. We've been ever since yesterday.

"You need to get your backpack?" I ask.
"I hid it by the east gates. I figured we'd wanna slip out that way."

We keep walking and turn around the corner. There I see it. Joel's house. I start to get nervous. I feel myself shaking. We walk up the small stairs looking at all the flowers and cards left for him. Dina moves aside and I walk to face the front door. I move my hand to place it on the knob. I stop and i see my hand shake.

"Hey. What do you need, I can go get it." Dina suggested.
"I wanna do it." I say looking at her.
"Okay." She shyly said.
"I'm okay. Come on." I open the door walk in and a wave of memories hit me.

Valentina's P.O.V

Ellie left without saying anything. It's been this way for two days straight. We never talked ever since we broke up.

I started hanging out with Jesse more. He's a really cool guy.

Anyway, I got dressed and put on a sweater. I opened the door and walked over to Jesse's.

Knock knock

"Hey Jesse it's me!" I yell.
"Coming." He yells from inside his house.

I hear the lock turn and the door opens.

"Hey." He says.
"Hi. What are we doing today?"
"Something fun." He replies.
"Okay. I'll follow you."

We walk along.

"You doing okay?" He asks.
"Yea. Why?"
"The whole situation about Joel."
"Oh.. Well yea. I'm pretty sad about what happened to him."
"I wonder why they did that to him."
"It's not fair." I say

We walk some more.

"And how do you feel about Ellie and Dina?" It seemed like he was worried to ask that question.
"I was the one to break up with Ellie. She had feeling for Dina I could tell."
"What if you were wrong?"
"Well they are dating now right?"
"Yes."
"Yup. It kinda hurts but at least she is happy. Ish."
"Right."

Jesse stops.

"Huh?" I say.

He crouches down and does something with his hands. I walk around to look at what he was doing

Then he throws a snowball at me.

"Hey what the fuck?!" I yell with a smile on my face.
"I got you."
"Oh no you don't." I utter.

I bend down to make a snowball. When I do i throw it at him. We both start having a snowball fight. We threw at each other for a while.

He threw one at my face.
"Hey!"

I run to him and as I do I slip and loose my balance. He catches me.

"You okay?" He asks.
"Yes." I say looking into his eyes.

I have snow in my hand so I shove it in his face. I laugh at him.

"This is bullshit." He mumbled.

I keep laughing and walk away from him. I turn around to face him and see he is running at me. He also looses his balance and he falls on me.

We both laughed but it died out. We look at each other still smiling.

"Hi." I say with a smile.

Jesse looks at me in the eyes," Hey."

He's still on top of me. Our smiles fade. My gaze focus on his lips. Then I look back at his eyes.

I never really took notice but Jesse.. He's attractive.

He looks at my lips. We both have the same thing in mind. He leans in and kisses me. I also return the kiss. I put my hands on his cheeks to bring him closer to me.

"Jesse!" I hear a someone say.

Both Jesse and I let go of each other and we get up.

"Yes? I'm right here." He responds.
"Ellie and Dina left." The man announced.
"What?"
"Around what time did they leave?" Jesse asked.
"Not too long ago. Maria told them to go after Tommy."
"Let's go." I say.
"Let's go ask Maria." Jesse said.
"Okay."

*With Maria*

"No you will not go outside." Maria declared.
"Then why did you let Ellie and Dina go?"
"They went to look for Tommy."
"We can help them." I say.
"No. You both will not go. You will stay here. End of conversation. Oh and don't you think about escaping." Maria said walking back to her house.

"Fuck." I say.
"Come on. Follow me." Jesse said.
"Where are we going?"
"Leaving." Jesse says walking towards something.

We walk to the opposite side where the gates are. Jesse removes a cloth from behind a shack. There was a big hole.

"Go through." He said.

I crawl through the hole and I get up at the other side of the fence.
"Jesse what now?"
"Let's go around the fence to the gates."
"But they'll see us."
"Go behind the trees."
"Oh."

We run behind the trees and reach where the gates are.

"Now let's follow anything that can lead us to Ellie and Dina."
"Alright. Jesse?"
"Yes."
"So are we a thing or?"
"What do you want it to be?"
"I want this to lead somewhere."
"I like that idea."
