Every single day since the accident Kirito would visit Asuna in hospital. As you can imagine he was very protective, considering past events. Everyone would visit from time to time bringing flowers and saying helpful things to Asuna, hoping she would one day wake up.

Everyday was a year.

And there was no telling what would happen.

[ASUNA P.O.V. sorta]

I stared into blackness. What had happened? Why was I stuck in this eternally black world?

I could hear the voices of those around me but when I tried to reach out to them, my arm would feel stiff and never move.

Everyday I would hear Kirito's voice

And everyday I would feel more and more pain.

I need to break out of the world.

Nothing is impossible right?
