CHRYSANTHEMUM

"I won't let that man walk free outside. I'll make sure he'll rot in jail!"

We stayed like that for a couple of hours, lying on the mat and looking to the sky, talking about random things.

It was 2 o' clock in the morning when we decided to go home.

Mom's beside her, caressing her back. Dad is standing in front of them, clenching his fist out of anger. Naikwento na siguro ni Niah ang nangyari. I wonder how they have been able to find where she was.

"Tell me the name of that bastard and I will make sure to ruin everything about him! Walang hiya!" Dagdag pa ni Dad.

Anger was evident in his face. Niah doesn't deserve that. No one deserves that!

Tumikhim ako upang makuha ang atensiyon nila. Kaagad na napatingin sa akin si Mommy. She kissed Niah on her forehead before standing up and giving me a hug.

"Isa ka pa, pinag-alala niyo kami!" She said, she started sobbing on my shoulder.

"Sorry," she uttered. "Patawarin niyo kami mga anak..."

Mom is a fierce woman. That's how I can describe her in a word. If you look at her, you'll get intimidated by the way she carries herself. She's insusceptible. She's more like a wood than a glass, she isn't easy to break. That's what I thought.

Now, seeing her makes me want to cry too. Even Dad looked away seeing Mom in this state.

"Sorry..." She whispered again.

"Mom," I called her. "It's fine."

I sat beside her and then held her hand. The atmosphere was just so depressing.

Mom uttered again which made my tears fall even more.

I saw a single tear fall from his eyes until more drops of it follow. He's unbreakable. It's true that he was the jolliest, and that's what makes me believe that he will not be affected by this.

Being a father is the hardest thing in the world. They were the strength of the family. Haligi. He needs to pull us up when we're all down. He needs to be the source of strength and seeing him this weak, weakens my heart more.

My parents were strong. My parents were the foundation of how brave we are but they just showed us their weaknesses this time.

"Sorry," Dad wisphered.
