chapter five

Hiccup grabs a chair and sits next to Anna, he grabs her hand and stares at her peaceful sleep, she's like the sister he never had, not girlfirend becauase he already has one back home. He kisses her forehead and leaves

-Hey Hiccup- her groggy voice comes from behind him, he turns and blushes

-i didn't mean to wake you- he says and sits next to her again she lowers her eyes avoiding his gaze

-i'm sorry- she says his brow furrows in confusion

-why?- he asks

-I the fire, i didn't... I'm sorry- her voice quivers and Hiccup hugs her

-i'll tell you something to brighten your day- he smiles

-what- she mumbles from his chest

-i have a pet dragon- she pulls away grinning

-really?- she asks

-yes his name is toothless- he grins and Anna laughs

-you have to present him to me someday-

-promise- he gets up

-i'll let you rest- he walks away and she calls to him when hes a the door, he turns around -yeah?-

-thank you- she blushes

-what for-

-for not pushing answers- Hiccup laughs

-you'll tell me when you feel ready- he turns and goes to dinner.

-so how's Anna?- Jack asks a week later

-Better she'll be released today after lunch- Elsa says smiling

-thats good- he sighs and stares at his mashed potatoes

-what's wrong?- Elsa lays a hand on his shoulder

-its just, were so diferrent from everyone else and more me i mean i was dead- Jack looks away from her and stands -i have to go- he leaves and Elsa stares watching him go, Jack goes through the passages aimlessly and suddenly crashes into sand which begins to get covered in ice, Jack looks up dazed and once the sand disappears he finds a girl, around Elsas age, blond curly hair and dark brown eyes which harden as she looks Jack up and down

-see anything you like?- he asks raising and eyebrow, the girl raises her own, her hand shoots out and sand pins Jack to the wall, Jack squirms and huffs then stays still -so i'm guessing you're Alice- She snorts and keeps walking -are you always so rude to people?!- he calls out

-I am not the rude one- she says as she keeps walking, Jack freezes the sand and catches up to her

-i'm sorry for being a jerk- she eyes him

-apology accepted, what do you want?-

-nothing-

-oh please everyone wants something- she says harshly, rolling her eyes

-to talk, i just want to talk- Alice stops

-what?- she demands

-well i...- Jack searches for the words and the stumble out -how do you do it?-

-do what?-

-be here without feeling out of place- Alice chuckles

-i'm always out of place, but it helps if you have a friend- she smiles for a second and keeps walking, Jack ponders this and decides she right, he'll just have to change his attitud and besides the months almost over, the other schools will soon be arriving, he smiles to himself.
