Glitchtrap made Michael hallucinate his father abusing him (it wasn't real). THEN Glitchtrap sent Mike to a psychiatric hospital where he was put in an insane asylum. When William found out that Glitch put Mike there, he tried to get Mike but couldn't. Mike was to be released when he is 18 years old (Mike was 16 at the time). THEN when Mike came home, he found the walls covered with the repeated words, 'I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry,' and so on. He also found a book with some newspaper clips saying, "William Afton, the serial killer", in the same book, there was one paper folded. Mike unfolded it and he read it,
'It's his fault again, isn't it!? He's the cause of all this. I'm sorry, Michael but he probably don't want to see me again. I killed people at the pizzeria's I've opened. There souls are trapped and I'm going to free them. The only way to free them is by burning the animatronics' or perhaps the entire building itself? I'll fix my mistakes even if I die. At first, Mike thought that his father burned down the buildings so he would have to worry about the rent and taxes but he couldn't find a job since his last name Afton caused people think that he's William. He changed his name to Mike Schmidt for awhile and he worked at the first Fazbear location and at Circus Baby's.(He's dead now and Ennard is with him) He soon ran into Henry and Henry took care of him. Mike told Henry about the souls trapped in animatronics then Henry thought of an idea. "Open your own pizzeria and Salvage animatronics. Once all the animatronics are there, you can burn down the building, freeing all the souls and maybe my daughter's soul aswell...if she's trapped in an animatronic"
