Chapter Three

During my consult the next morning, they took x-rays and began explaining the duration of my braces and the predicted path my teeth would be in. I scheduled my next appointment for Thursday. The orthodontist said that the braces would most likely only have to be on for a year and or so. Which is apparently really short. We'll see though. I'm definitely not doing a face reveal while the braces are on. Maybe I'll have the confidence to disclose my identity when it's all said and done.

My phone vibrated in my hand as I made my way back to my car.

I drove back home and dropped my keys on the kitchen counter. I placed my phone on the computer desk and turned on my monitors. When I had Minecraft loaded up, I texted Dream that I was ready to play. He sent me a request on Discord and we got connected into a voice call. Then, he explained the steps I had to take in order to get into the whitelisted server he had set up. I've only ever done mc survival, so this was all new to me.

"Do you wanna just do a casual beating the game?" I asked.

"Sure," it was silent on the other line while I chopped down a tree, "So do you have any ideas on what you want to do with the 10k?"

    "Um," I hummed, "I do, but that's a secret I'll never tell."

"How many secrets do you have?"

    "Too many."

    "Care to share one?"

    "Hmm, I don't know."

"Where do you live? I noticed you live in the US from the speed runner chart."

"I live in North Carolina," I smiled.

"You're kind of close to me; I live in Florida."

"Oh so you're a psychotic Florida man?" I joked.

    "Only on weekends," he played.

I continued to become more comfortable with Dream as the game went on. We started to joke around, be sarcastic with each other, and even bully each other. It was nice having someone else to actually play Minecraft with. It can get boring just speed running by yourself all the time. I like having casual gameplay like this. It seems whenever I play Minecraft, it's always so tense.

"You mother fucker!" I yelled as the respawn title screen popped up. Dream started laughing to the point where he sounded like a tea kettle, "Well get my stuff you bitch!" I yelled. We were in the nether and he decided it'd be a good idea to shove me off the bridge we were building. Thankfully I died from fall damage and not fire damage.

As much as I wanted to be angry, I literally think it was impossible with the way Dream sounded when he laughed. It was almost contagious and I found a smile lifting on my face while I sprinted back to the portal with no armor on.

"Cal DON'T!" He screamed as I collected my stuff back from him and pushed the diamond sword in his face. I shifted and inched closer to him, "I swear to god, no!"

"I was just thinking 'bout it, I ain't gonna do it girl," I said, quoting a Tik Tok audio. When his guard was down, I crouched behind him and gently pushed him off the bridge, "Oops, I did it," I smiled, banging on my desk and laughing as I heard him rage from the other side of the discord. As he traveled back to the nether, we exchanged a few choice words to each other. After awhile, though, we both laughed it off and called it even.
