Chapter Thirty

Even shoving a pillow over my face couldn't block out the noise from this morning. It was an annoying, violent tapping and occasional groan like noises. When I opened my eyes, I saw Clay hunched over his phone looking exhausted and frustrated beyond belief. We've been friends for what? A year at this point? And I've never seen him look as angry as he does now. To anyone else, they'd probably be terrified, but I know him well enough. He'll punch a hole in the wall rather than hurt me.

"Hmph," he uttered, starting another typing war with his phone.

"Clay?" I mumbled, "Is everything okay?"

His head whipped toward my direction and his facial features softened as soon as his eyes landed on mine. I was still quite tired; I had no clue what time it was.

"What? huh?" He glanced back at his phone, then at me, "No everything's fine."

"Don't be stupid. I can see through all your lies. You don't have to tell me what's up if you don't want to. I'm not going to force you and it's none of my business. I am here for you though if you need to talk."

He dropped his phone the short distance onto the comforter then rubbed his face with both hands. Then, he sighed and looked at me, his eyes clearly bloodshot even with the dim lighting of the phone screen, "It technically is your business."

I furrowed my brows, "What do you mean by that?"

He didn't say anything, just slowly slid his phone over in front of me after messing around on it for a few seconds. I sat up a bit and squinted my eyes at the screen. It was a tweet from some fan account, attached is a clip from what seemed to be one of George's twitch streams. Clay motioned with his hands to play the video, so I turned the volume up and pressed play. Sapnap's voice immediately rang out.

"Cal don't leave!"

It was a clip from last night's stream.

"I'll call you after the stream," I told him. I ended up falling asleep and never calling him. Now I feel terrible about that. I forgot I even promised to call him.

"Okay!" Aw. He sounded so excited about it too.

"Goodnight boys!"

There was rustling that was heard—I assume from Clay and I switching seats again—then I heard his voice.

"I'll be right back guys," he said.

I paused the video then looked to the boy sitting next to me, "I don't see what the issue is?" I said in a confused tone, "It's just a clip from last night's stream."

"Keep watching," he whispered and reached over to resume the video.

Suddenly I heard more rustling, then what sounded like kissing. That's when it clicked for me and I realized why he was so frustrated and angry. The next thing I heard was the two boys screaming that Dream's mic was unmuted. Under the screaming, you could barely hear me telling Clay to take his time with his boys. The video ended after that.

"Oh," I whispered back, staring at the black screen of the video. I swiped out of the video and read what the account had tweeted.

@user1: um guys??

So it's safe to assume that based on what they heard, they're connecting the dots and guessing that Clay and I are dating. Sapnap and George, while I'm thankful they screamed over us, did miss what I'd say is the most crucial part to blur out. It's no one's fault but Clay and I. We should've verified that it was muted, or he could've kept his headset on, or we could've left the room, or so many other possibilities to avoid exactly this.
