"We made a start, be it a false one, I know. Baby, I don't want to feel alone."

I stared at the screen, amazed and bewildered all at once.

A heavy silence overcame us and I didn't even dare to fully breathe. In that moment, I could have sworn that my heart was thudding strongly in my chest, but I knew that it was impossible.

Suddenly, Elaine burst out laughing.

I looked down at her, seeing her shaking with laughter as her hands slammed down on the small desk holding the screen. Her cheeks flushed red and her eyes were ablaze.

Due to the melodic sounds leaving her lips, it was hard to make out what she said. "H-h-ha-hard t-t-to b-be-beli-"

"What?" I questioned, failing to see her humour.

She laughed some more, and I couldn't help but smile. Her laugh was contagious and warmed my insides. Elaine truly was one of a kind.

It took her a little while but somehow she managed to calm down. She took a deep breath and one last trembling laugh rang through the air until she had enough. "Hard to believe we used to hate each other."

I chuckled at her words and slipped my fingers through my hair, pushing the rather long curls back. "I will never forget how you attacked me when I went out to get you."

"I thought you were some creep," she tried to defend herself, not really helping her case. "I mean, this whole ordeal was odd."

"And your attitude!" I exclaimed, shaking my head. "Gosh, how I hated you."

"Our start was a false one, but hey, just look at us now!" Elaine stood up and surprisingly wrapped her arms around my neck, hugging me warmly.

I didn't waste any time in wrapping my hands around her waist and shifting her hips closer to mine. My face was lost in her hair as I inhaled her clean and fruity scent.

My smile widened as I recalled all our petty fights. We had taken every little opportunity to get on each other's nerves, and it had worked every time.

Without overthinking it, I kissed the top of her head. It felt so right to just hold her, and even though I still had my doubts, I knew that we would somehow find a way to make this work.

Elaine tried to wiggle out of my grip, but I didn't let her escape. Due to her shuffling, we turned around in a small circle and I took it to my advantage as I pushed her against the wall, my hands on either side of her face as I slightly pulled away.

Her back arched and she was panting lightly, but I didn't give in just yet.

"Harry," she whined, her fingers finding my hair.

I dipped down to nibble at her throat, quickly finding her sweet spot. Elaine pushed her hips off the wall and into mine, the friction she caused making me moan against her skin.

She forcefully grabbed my chin and tilted my head until she was able to connect our lips. My tongue pushed its way through her lips, rolling over hers in warm waves.

I felt her trembling underneath my touch and it took everything in me not to smile into the kiss. The way her lips parted involuntarily to accept me made me happy and eager all at once.

Reminding myself to take it slow, I let my hands travel down her sides to rest on her hips, slowly pushing her into me. Her breath hitched when she felt my hard-on against her abdomen and I couldn't help but chuckle as I kissed the tip of her nose and rested my forehead against hers, trying to catch my breath.
