TW: brief reference to an attempted sexual assault

The weekend came quickly. You had spent most of the time you weren't studying with Susan or Draco. You wished your other friends would speak to you, but everyone other than your three roommates avoided you as much as possible. It hurt, but you just hoped that they would come around one day and realize that Draco didn't have to remain the monster that he acted like sometimes. You had gotten to see his softer side, and you hoped that they would be able to see that one day too.

Susan helped you get ready for the party, picking out a cute mint green sweater for you with your favorite pair of jeans. She also straightened your hair until it fell in shiny waves against your back. You pulled on a pair of flats and stuck your wand into your back pocket before slipping out the door to go meet Draco. He had been quiet all day, but you knew that he had been having trouble sleeping for a while now.

You walked up to the entrance to the Slytherin common room, grinning when you found him leaning against the wall, waiting for you. You shyly came over to him and smiled, "Hi."

He took your hand and wordlessly began to lead you into the party.

You beamed as you followed him into the party. You entered, smiling at all of the people gathered there who seemed to be enjoying themselves. Draco didn't let go of your hand and dragged you deeper into the party. He found Crabbe and Goyle in the crowd and muttered a greeting towards them. You noticed the way they both were eyeing your hand in Draco's, but neither said a word.

For a while, you stayed with Draco, chatting with Crabbe and Goyle, trying to get to know them better. Draco slipped away at some point and told you he would be right back. You beamed at the two boys and wondered, "What are both of your favorite classes?"

They both shrugged, blowing off your question. Then you heard Pansy's voice shriek, "Who let her in?"

Slowly turning around, you found Pansy standing in front of you with her nose upturned and eyes full of disgust. She lowly growled, "Get out of my sight, Potter. This is a Slytherin party, and the last time I checked you're a 'puff." She spat out your house name as if it was a terrible taste she wanted to evict from her mouth.

You swallowed and tried to turn and leave when she grabbed onto you, laughing, "No, I wasn't done."

She shoved you backwards and continued, "Have you looked in a mirror? That sweater is horrendous. You look like a troll."

You frowned and tried to pull from her grip again, but she tightened her hold on you. She added, "Your hair is flat and disgusting. I can't believe you're going out looking like that."

You cleared your throat and commanded, "Let go of me."

Pansy got into your face and laughed, "No."

Glancing to your left, you were horrified to see Draco standing there with a blank expression, watching the scene occur. He turned away from you, and you felt a pang in your chest. You angrily ripped your arm from Pansy's grip and followed him through the crowd. You finally caught up to him and tapped his back. He turned around and stared down at you with a blank expression.

You whispered, "Are you ok? You don't look like yourself."

"I'm fine," He replied coldly.

"Why didn't you say anything? Didn't you see the way she was just treating me?" You wondered, looking up at him with round eyes and a gentle frown.

He rolled his eyes and demanded, "What did you want me to say? Why can't you just take care of yourself? I'm not your father."

You softly blinked and pursed your lips. Staring at your shivering hands, you sighed, "No, I guess I just stupidly thought you were my friend."
