You had been spending the majority of your time at the Gryffindor dorms after your latest incident with Malfoy. Your friends all wanted to protect you from him, and you appreciated this, even though you felt slightly annoyed by their coddling. You knew that you could take care of yourself, but they all acted as if you were a younger sister that needed protection. You knew that it was because Malfoy had hurt you quite a bit since the year began, and your friends worried about you, but you wished they could just trust you sometimes.

It was a rainy Friday morning as you raced to the Gryffindor dorms at an ungodly hour and pushed these ponderings to the back of your mind. Slipping past the fat lady portrait and through the empty common room, you climbed up the stairs to the boys' dorms. You tiptoed to Fred and George's room, knocking lightly, and listening for someone's voice. You heard Lee Jordan's grumbling voice wondering who was there while you had your ear pressed against the door.

Carefully pushing the door open, you wandered in, slightly squinting your eyes so as not to see anything you weren't supposed to see. Kenneth Towler lifted his head from his pillow and dropped it again when his eyes caught on your auburn hair. Lee Jordan's eyes followed you as you moved about the room.

You shuffled over to George's bed and plopped down beside him. He blinked at you with squinted eyes and furrowed eyebrows while Fred groaned from his bed, "Merlin, Potter, what time is it?"

You chuckled softly, "Probably about seven now."

Stuffing his face deeper in his pillow, Fred complained, "Why? Why?" You decided you would wish him a happy birthday once he had woken up more since he didn't seem all too pleased about your early morning arrival.

George still hadn't said a word, but he just kept blinking up at you. After a few moments, he slowly smiled at you. He reached a hand up and lazily stroked the end of your hair as his eyes still blinked heavily. You gently rubbed your fingers into his head and ran them through his soft hair while you whispered, "Happy birthday, George."

Eyes closing at the comforting gesture, he dopily grinned at you. Before long, he grabbed your hands and tugged on them, pulling you down to lay beside him. He threw his blankets over you and wrapped his arms around your waist. He exhaled deeply while his face found its home in your neck. You played with the hair at the nape of his neck while he drifted back into a peaceful sleep again. You happily smiled and kept gently playing with his hair until you sensed eyes on you.

You glanced to the other side of the room to find Lee Jordan sitting up in his bed, staring at you with a strange grin. You blinked, slightly unnerved by his staring and shifted lower under the blankets. Wordlessly, Fred chucked a pillow at Lee before pulling his other pillow on top of his head and grumbling loudly. You swore you heard the likes of, "Why did she have to wake us up so early on my birthday," mixed in there somewhere.

Softly chuckling, you placed a gentle kiss on top of George's head, the boy humming happily in response. After around half an hour, you shifted slightly and caressed George's face. He slowly opened his eyes at your gentle touch and brushed his nose against yours once he saw your beaming face.

Kenneth suddenly groaned, "You two better not start snogging and interrupting my last peaceful moments of sleep."

George rolled his eyes before he whipped the curtains of his bed shut with a single flick of his wand. He buried his face into your neck and sighed, his breath tickling you and making you softly giggle.

The sound of Kenneth grumbling under his breath made you and George only laugh more. You both jumped when Fred whipped open George's curtains to stare at the two of you with mischief dancing in his eyes. He declared, "Happy birthday, brother. It's time."
