GRETAL LOOKED BEHIND her to see Telmarine soldiers following behind them. "They've seen us!" Lucy cried out as Susan looked back. Gretal slowed the horse down and quickly got of Destier.
"Take the reins." She handed the reins to Lucy. "Susan, go back to the How!" Susan nodded and turned back to the How with Roland looking back at them.
"What are you doing?" Lucy asked the nomadic Narnian.
"I'm sorry, Lucy," Gretal looked up at the girl sadly. "But its looks as if you'll be going alone after all." She hit Destier's backside and turned to face the enemy. She looked back at Lucy who had stopped to look back at her tearfully. Gretal fired arrows at the six Telmarines coming down the hill and ducked on who sliced at her. His horse knocked her down however and she stared up at him in shock. Caspian came bursting through the trees and stabbed the Telmarine knocking him off his horse.
Caspian extended his hand towards the girl. "Are you sure you don't need my help?" Gretal smiled with an eye roll and gripped onto his arm pulling herself up and onto his horse.
