Some people seem to have a problem with my book The Publicist. They feel it’s disrespectful to August. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a huge fan of August Alsina and I go hard. (IE-read any of the other books in which I’ve written.)

The point of the book is to not make him look bad. I decided to write it out of love, because I am so sick of people prejudging him and labeling him a bad guy.

The book is attempt to show how the media sees him vs. how we the real fans see him. We know August. We know he has a huge heart. We know that against all odds he prevailed. We know that he sacrificed everything to be his brother’s keeper. To finish school at 20, when he could’ve said F an education.

We’ve seen him laugh, we’ve seen him cry. And although people downgraded him winning that B.E.T. Award. We knew what the tears were for. Not because he was being super dramatic, as a lot said. But because he went through the fire and made it out alive.

But the world doesn’t see that. They see this vicious, arrogant. out of control 22 year old, that has no regard for his life or career. The characters specifically DJ and Jazmine represents how people who are not fans view August. They don’t know the real Aug that we know. The story is an attempt for them to find out, what we already know.

So to the authors that tried to tear me down, specifically the two with a large following who I have down nothing but uphold in the highest light.  When you yourselves never asked me where I was coming from. When you yourselves have read my work and knew my love for Aug. I wish you nothing but the best. I gain nothing from showing you the same hate you have shown me.

The book will continue. If you don’t want to read it, fine. If you still want to be hateful fine. But I will continue to write about what a beautiful person Aug is, and yes whether you agree with it or not, I will use this situation to shine through the darkness. That's the purpose of stories to teach. And in order to teach, there must first be a problem present. The problem as shown in DJ and Jazmine, is people judge August too quickly.

To those still rocking with me.  Enjoy the journey!
