"I think we'll put that one at C-tier, as far as YouTuber songs go."
You dragged the icon up the chart and dropped it in the tier next to all the others, sparing a quick glance at your chat. Most of the comments rolled by too fast for you to see, but you caught quite a few of your own emotes rolling around in there, and you smiled. Seeing the little animated faces always reassured you that people were enjoying your stream, and that was the whole point wasn't it?
"Two more to go." You announced. You looked back to your own screen and groaned - in theory, ranking bad Youtuber songs had been a great idea. You had conveniently forgot that you would have to listen to Everyday Bro again.
"Everybody buckle up." You sighed, opening the link. "Here comes the cringe mobile."
The song began to play, and you rubbed at your temples - you were sure no one would get upset at you putting this in the bottom tier. Maybe even below the bottom tier. It was the most infamous song to come out of YouTube yet, which was saying a lot, since most Youtuber songs were pretty terrible.
On screen, as Jake Paul moved into the next verse, you leaned back in your chair, blankly staring up at the ceiling of your room, waiting for the torture to be over. Your eyes roved your space slowly - the windowsil lined with succulents, the bed that you'd had to make this morning, as you didn't want your messy sheets in the background of your stream, the bulletin corkboard above your setup that contained your entire life. Eventually the song ended and you sat back up.
"Well that was terrible, and it's going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the day." You said simply, grabbing the icon that represented that song and dropping it in the bottom tier. A flash in the corner of your screen caught your attention. "Thank you Kie_boldt for the $5, that song is the bane of the earth never play it again." You chuckled. "Yeah, I feel that, that's never going to be seen on my streams again - let's actually get into the next one-"
Your mouse hovered over the next icon and your mouth curled down into a frown - another Jake Paul song. You glanced up at your webcam, flat faced. "You know what?" You picked up the icon and dragged it over to the bottom tier. "I think we can just skip that one... safe to leave it here..."
You leaned back in your chair, clapping once. "That's it then. We did it. All the songs have been ranked. And would you look at that - S-tier is empty. That's crazy..." You laughed to yourself, taking a screenshot of the chart to post on Twitter later.
"I guess that's it for today guys." You said, turning to your stream to find someone to raid. You had amassed a solid 10k viewers, and it was the least you could do to dump them on a friend or someone who you knew. "Thank you all for coming, it was absolutely lovely seeing all of you... who should we raid today?"
Suggestions rolled by in the chat and you scanned through them. "Oh is Ivy streaming? Let's raid Ivy." You navigated over to Ivy_soar's page - you had worked with her before, gaming together a few times and attending a few in person events together. "Alright chat, tell Ivy I said hi, and I'm sending all my love, goodbye!"
You sent them off with a click and ended the stream, taking a moment to just stretch your arms out up over your head and get out of your chair, letting blood flow back to your legs. You had been sitting for about two hours, and it felt good to move a little again.
You were just shutting your computer down when you heard a gentle tap at your door. You turned to see Maddy, your roommate, peeking her head in. "Are you still streaming?"
You shook your head. "Nope, just finished. What's up?"
Maddy stepped into the room, plopping down in your gaming chair and spinning around. You watched her with a little smile, going over to flop on your bed, rumpling the previously smooth sheets.
"You know Austin, right?" Maddy asked.
"Like Austin show Austin?" You asked in return.
Maddy nodded. "Yeah, that guy. I got a DM from him today about another Love or Host, he wants me to do."
"Ah." You said. It wasn't uncommon for Maddy to make an appearance on that particular show - she had been friends with Austin for a good while, and was one of his go-to's when he needed someone to participate. "Who for?"
"One of those Minecraft guys, I don't know." She shrugged. "Anyway, Austin said he was short on participants, and I told him that I had a hot roommate who might be down for it, so I wanted to ask if you would consider hopping on for this one."
You pursed your lips. "When is it?"
"Couple days. Friday night, I think around like 7?"
You pushed off the bed, going over to the corkboard that housed your entire life - sticky notes pressed into the shape of a calendar, each labeled with a number and a list of things you had to do that day. You glanced at Friday's note - mostly empty, except for a few online classes in the morning. If you wanted, you could probably do it.
You looked back at Maddy. "You can tell Austin I'll do it."
She perked up. "Yeah? You will?"
"Yeah." You said, pulling down the sticky note for that day and writing down 'Love or Host - 7' at the bottom of the list before sticking it back up, pinning it in place. It wasn't that big of a deal really. They just needed another person to participate - and going on the Austin Show was always good publicity.
"Awesome." Maddy said. "Trust me, this is going to be so fun."
