"Sam,"

"What do you want, Anthony?"

"Can we talk?"

My back was too him as I put my books away at the end of the day.

"No."

"Please?"

"I really don't feel like being picked on right now."

"I just want to talk to you. Will you look at me?"

I forced myself to turn around.

"I'm sorry, okay?"

"What?" I whispered, confused.

"I'm sorry for everything. I've been nothing but a jerk to you and I was wrong to treat you the way I did."

"Oh. Wow. Thank you. I'm sorry too."

"You don't have to be."

"But I am. I shouldn't of told my brother."

"You had every right to be mad."

I finally heard what I'd been wishing to hear for so long. But it was too late. I had Mike. Not that I didn't love him, but Anthony was always so much more. My first love.

"I missed...us." I mumbled.

"What about your boyfriend?"

I shook my head, "I don't know. I mean, he's not you."

"Do you love him?"

"I tell him I do. I'm not sure."

"Well, when you figure it out, I'll be here."

"As what?"

"Whatever you want me to be."

I smiled, "Thank you."

He smiled back, walking off down the hall.

I took my backpack out of my locker. The hallways were almost empty accept for a few stray people in after school activities.

"I thought I told you not to talk to him." Mike's voice said from next to me.

"Hi." I said instead.

"Why were you talking to Anthony after I told you not to?"

I stared at him, "Were you watching me?"

Mike's eyes darted nervously, "What did Anthony say to you?"

"He apologized."

"What else?"

"None of your business."

"You're my boyfriend, so it is my business."

"Mike, why are you acting this way?"

"You never listen to me! I tell you to do something and you do the complete opposite."

"You aren't the boss of me. You don't control me."

I walked past him. I wanted to go home and forget we ever had that conversation.
Mike gripped my wrist, yanking me back violently.

"I was the only one who would put up with you after Anthony dumped you, so I think I do control you."

My wrist burned where he grabbed it. His hand only got tighter, as if he was trying to squeeze the life out of me.

"Mike, you're hurting me." I whimpered.

He gently released me, fuming.

"Don't ever say that again." He growled.

I ignored him. I was rubbing my wrist, where a blue bruise was already forming.
He reached for my hand and I flinched away.
