Gyda begrudgingly got into Dewey's police car, refusing to take the front seat where Tatum had ordered her to sit. "I will not sit in the front seat, Tatum. You know that." Dewey only smiled at the interaction between his little sister and her friend. "I wish they allowed dogs," Gyda complained, her thoughts going to her dog who was the best at comforting her in times like this.
"We all know that can't be helped. Especially how big your dog is." Tatum's blonde hair cascaded down her back as Gyda hid how long her's was by putting it into a messy bun like the night before. Frowning at the recognition, Gyda shook her head and pulled up her 'I'm fine' look as best as she could just as they arrived to the school. "Thank you, once again Dewey for driving me. It means a lot," Gyda spoke, leaning down to speak to Dewey through the window.
"Nah, it's fine. Besides, I will escort you guys to class. I have to interview everyone here to see where they were at Steve and Casey's murder." Gyda tensed at the mention of her late friend, but nodded her head nonetheless and avoided the guilty look on the Deputy's face. Gyda looked around for any familiar faces and saw Sidney and straight away made a bee line towards her. Tatum followed slower, convincing her brother to stay near the car.
"Do you believe this shit?" Tatum said, scaring Sidney, which made Gyda smirk in amusement. "Tatum! Gyda! What is going on?" Sidney's arm stretched out as she waved them around to indicate the reporters around the school. "You don't know?" Tatum questioned with disbelief, eyes wide as Gyda once again had that same, annoying frown on her face.
"Casey Becker and Steve Orith were killed last night. Gyda was the only one to survive, but she has a concussion, bruising on her back and a few scars." Sidney immediately looked to the white-haired female with shock and horror. "What? No way." Gyda could only force herself to nod her head, to say that it was the truth. "And we aren't just talking killed. I mean, splatter movie. Ripped open from end to end."
Gyda scowled and pushed past the two, upset with how Tatum didn't sound sad at all. She ignored all the looks that were pinned at her as she entered her first class, which just so happened to be English. The female only stared agead, refusing to look behind her where Casey would usually sit. Suddenly, a person came in and asked for Sidney, who glanced at Gyda and left for the interview with the police department.

The sound of the Principal echoed throughout the school. "𝚁𝚎𝚖𝚎𝚖𝚋𝚎𝚛, 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝙿𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚌𝚒𝚙𝚊𝚕 𝚕𝚘𝚟𝚎𝚜 𝚢𝚘𝚞. 𝙰𝚗𝚍 𝙸 𝚠𝚊𝚗𝚝 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚝𝚘 𝚋𝚎 𝚜𝚊𝚏𝚎. The announcement's last sentence couldn't be heard by Gyda as Tatum started asking the group of friends what they were interviewed on.
"What kind of questions did they ask you, Sid?" Gyda sat on the floor, grabbing loose rocks on the floor and then throwing it high in the sky. She didn't want to be in between the two couples. Sidney was sitting cross legged between Billy and Stu had Tatum sitting in between him too. Randy, being Randy had sat beside Tatum and Stu. "They asked me if I knew Casey," Sidney replied, glancing down at Gyda, who didn't change in posture so assumed that she was okay.
She was wrong. In fact, Gyda was having trouble keeping her tears at bay, distracting herself enough by the rocks to not sob and ruin her act then and there, but also listen to the conversation. "Did they ask if you like to hunt?" Stu's voice carried through the wind and towards the direction of Billy. "Yeah, they did. Did they ask you?"
"Hunting? Why would they ask you if you like to hunt?" Tatum's clear confusion was the thing that made Randy speak up from eating his grapes. "Because their bodies were gutted." Immediately, Billy propped himself up and got from his position with Sidney and sat beside Gyda, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and pulled her into him. "Thanks, Randy." Billy glared from the ground at the only other person other than Gyda that was single.
Gyda naturally leant into his chest, finding comfort in her friend. She didn't think much of it as Billy was the most affectionate person she knew. '𝓗𝓮 𝓲𝓼 𝓪 𝓰𝓸𝓸𝓭 𝓱𝓾𝓰𝓰𝓮𝓻' She thought absentmindedly. The female traced circles on Billy's ankle, the Australian only knew Billy and the rest of the group for six months, since the day she arrived and she was already so close with each person. "Why didn't they ask me if I like to hunt?" Tatum sounded half offended by the fact she wasn't asked this question.
"Cause there is no way a girl could've killed them." Stu's opinion made everyone stop what they were doing. "Wow, sexist much," Gyda mumbled, earning a small smile from Billy. She rathered to try and joke about things that hurt her, it was her coping mechanism. "That is so sexist. The killer could easily be female. Basic instinct." Gyda's attention dropped from Tatum to Randy as he stood up. "That was the ice pick. Not exactly the same thing."
"Yeah, Casey and Steve were completely hollowed out. And the fact is, it takes a man to do something like that." Gyda froze for a second, leaning closer into Billy as he squeezed her shoulder lightly, as if to say 'it'll be alright.' "Or a man's mentality," Tatum snorted out, defending the female gender from her boyfriend. Billy turned his focus to the conversation, but ran a hand through Gyda's hair.
"How do you gut someone?" Sidney asked everyone, her voice breaking a little at the end. The silence was able to be broken by anything. Gyda expected Billy to leave her side to comfort Sidney, but he didn't which confused her. "You take a knife, and you slide it from groin to sternum." Gyda's vision almost turned black as a flashback of Casey's body hanging from the tree came back to her.
"Hey, it's called tact, you fuckrag."
"Hey, Stu. Didn't you used to date Casey?" Sidney piped in, knocking Gyda back in reality and her first instinct was to grab Billy's shirt, which startled the brunette. "Hey, what's wrong?" He queried to the slightly shorter human being. "The last time I blacked out I couldn't stop a murder from going on. I don't ever want to black out again." At this moment in time, it was like Billy finally registered the scars that would be formed on her face as he stared at them.
He frowned and he looked almost angry at them. "It's alright. You won't black out again. Not whilst I'm around." Gyda gave the boy a grateful smile, patting his shoulder softly. "Was that before or after he sliced and diced?" Randy's voice was the thing that made Gyda move herself from Billy and into a standing position. "Don't you dare fucking joke about that, Randy. Don't. You. Dare." Gyda spat, her accent even more prominent when she was upset or angry.
"Did you really out her liver in the mailbox cause I heard that they found her liver in the mailbox next to her splein and her-" Randy was cut off as Gyda slapped the man, immediately regretting the physical contact. Gyda's face softened as the whole group looked on with surprise. Not once have they seen the Australian exchange student hit someone out of anger. Gyda felt bad, but didn't apologise, knowing that what he said was too far. Especially since the incident wasn't even twenty-four hours ago.
With that, Gyda stormed off, taking out her hair and letting it hit her waist as she ran a hand through it frustratedly. Knowing she had to go back to the house, she bit her lip at how long the walk home would be and started her trek back home.
It was better than sticking around someone who obviously didn't care for Casey's death.
