I feel safe when I'm in the Curtis house, like my second home, or my first. But I don't think it's just..the house. I feel safe with Ponyboy, he makes me feel like I matter, like I have something to live for. The whole gang really, they are my safe haven. I walk into the small but pleasant kitchen, I don't really know what I'm searching for, but I'm trying to clear my head.

"Hey Johnny, uh..we're going off to bed now, you can stay as long as you want, okay?" Ponyboy says in a gentle tone.

"Thank you Pony, goodnight.." I whisper. I slept on the couch that night, still better than at home. I'm happy, and safe.

-Ponyboy-

I woke up early that morning, I guess I was worried about Johnny. He's on the couch, he looks at peace for once, not scared. When I wake up, I'm usually the last one up. I make breakfast, it feels empty being the first one up. I could never imagine living a day in Johnny's shoes. I woke him up half an hour later. "C'mon Johnny, let's go take a walk." I say as his head lifts.

-Johnny-

I'm awakened by Ponyboy, he wants to go on a walk. I agree and we head out the door.

"Johnny..can I ask you something?"

says Pony as we're walking.

"Yeah, go for it." I reply.

"Well, have you ever..uh ya know, had feelings for someone. Romantically?" He says almost embarrassed.

My head was spinning, what was I supposed to say? "I think so, but I'm..I'm not for sure" is what I manage to let out.

"Johnny..?" He adds suddenly.

"What's wrong Pony?" I say in a nervous tone.

"I-I think I have feelings for you..more than a friend.." He says stopping in his tracks.

at this point we're both shaking. Ponyboy gently takes my hand, we're both sweaty. My eyes widened as I squeeze his hand and looked up.

"I-I think I might feel the same," I reply

He leads me the nearest bench as we both delicately sit down. I look down for a second before realizing it began to lightly rain. Pony and I both look up at the sky, then at each other, and before I could manage to do anything else, he leaned over and touched his lips to mine, I kissed him back of course. Throughout our moment, the rain came down harder and harder and we our clothes began to soak. That didn't stop us, until the lightning.
