Suspicion on the Season of Yay

~Bona~

It's been a while since I saw Thwok and the others, but I didn't really mind their absence. The monsters here held their festivities much more smoothly than the monsters at Plant Island did. I calmly watched as the Tweedle of this island flew around swiftly, covering the edges with garland and the Quibble twins strung the lights.

Ever since I bumped into Spunge and got to know who-well, what he was, my excitement for finding the truth just couldn't be contained. On one hand, I knew that I was never going to get a shot like this again(I mean, three monsters in a row?). However, I didn't speak in whistle, so I started getting lessons from Dandidoo on how to translate.

In between the lessons and the decorating, I have been keeping my eye on Kayna and what she did. Unlike the other monsters, her behavior wasn't predictable like a Furcorn or an Oaktopus. One minute she'd go on and talk to the others, and the next she'd be writing out weird hieroglyphics in her books and such.

But, unlike Uuduk and Bowgart and Spunge, she didn't have that weird shimmer in her eye that separated her from the rest. Instead, I saw this weird glaze whenever I looked her in the eye. Yes, the burning red of her iris was there surrounded by the bold yellow-orange sclera, but there would always be this weird golden hue over her eyes whenever I stared at her long enough.

It was on the third night of the week that I heard the jingling of bells and a deep jolly chuckle. Thwok and Petite were fast asleep, but Kayna wasn't per usual. I looked around quietly and saw the Grumpyre sleeping on the ground in a small circle bed beside the desk. Kayna was writing in the large book she'd carry around with her everywhere. I squinted to try and see what it said, but all I managed was:

      "Day 429,

Yool is almost here. Should...........................................................d I continued

talking about what Furnoss...........................................................k thought that

we should continue our rou........................................................... to head to

       Celestial Island after we wer...........................................................

Petite is also a fun one to ha...........................................................She is like

a little Monster almost, but ...........................................................s a pretty tough

like they're a part of the ...........................................................ey're home.

       That's it.

       -Kayna"

When she got up, I made sure to lay back down quickly and close my eyes to make her think that I was still asleep. As soon as I heard the door close, I opened my eyes and made sure the others were asleep as well. All it took was a scoop and a plop to free myself of their presence. Getting up, I got to the book Kayna left out and looked through it.

The second I opened the book cover, I was instantly swarmed with the weird hieroglyphics and drawings. Holding my head, I got a look to see that it was only a backwards language and a few symbols. Reading through the book, all that I could gather was that Kayna was some sort of insomniac explorer from Earth Island with the inconvenient tendencies of fainting.
