Wanda walked into her room allowing the door to close louder than usual. Why did they always think they know best for her? She plopped down on her bed, bringing her laptop from her desk into the bed with swirls of red. She probably had a good thirty minutes before Natasha or Steve would show up at her door. She began scrolling through Netflix, switching the language to Russian. Sometimes the English still messed with her head, especially when she was tired. She was still studying it though. Nat has been teaching her to control her accent. A knock sounded on her door.
"Come in." Wanda replied taking out her head phones.
Natasha walked in the room making her way toward Wanda's bed. Wanda's room was very different from the room it had been a little over a month ago. The room still had its white walls but the bookshelves were no longer bare and the room was littered with various items of clothing, a tapestry of constellations hung above Wanda's bed. Natasha sat on the bed her hands playing with the material of the fuzzy blanket resting on the bed. It was yellow, which is the color Wanda had said was her favorite. The spy was surprised to find out it wasn't red. Wanda said she had far too much "red" in her life, yellow reminded her of the sun. Hope for a new day, the only sense of happiness she had in captivity. We will see the sun again sister. I promise. Pietro had said. The color yellow couldn't suit the girl more. Since her time at the compound Wanda had become a happier, better version of herself, bringing light into the compound.
"Steve and I know you're not a little kid. We know you basically raised yourself, but you don't have to anymore. I'm not going to pretend to know what's best for you, I just want to help you. I have noticed that your more in control of your powers when you're well rested. We don't want to risk you hurting yourself because your tired."
"I'm sorry for arguing with you and Steve. I should be thanking you for caring."
"It's okay Wands, come here." Natasha said pulling the girl into a hug, placing a kiss to the side of the girls head. "I love you, little witch."
"I love you too." Wanda replied
The next 2 days went by in a blur. Wanda awoke Saturday morning to someone shaking her shoulder.
"Hey kid, time to wake up. Breakfast is ready." Steve said shaking Wanda's shoulder.
"Ugh, it's too early..." Wanda groaned, pulling the blankets over her head "and it's Saturday..."
"You're just like Nat, you know that. But even she is awake sitting in the kitchen right now. Don't make me carry you down there." Steve said.
"Fine..." Wanda said pulling the covers back down. "What's for breakfast?"
"Pancakes." Steve replied
"With chocolate chips?" Wanda asked
"Of course, those are your favorite." He replied ruffling the girls hair.
Soon breakfast was over and Wanda, Steve, and Natasha were in the jet flying to the Barton house.
"You're sure you got everything you need?" Steve asked
"Steve you've asked like 20 times." Natasha said with a laugh as her hand placed a squeeze on Steve's arm.
"I just want to make sure..." he replied
"I have everything, no need to worry." Wanda said giving him a reassuring nod before popping her headphones in her ears.
"You think she'll be okay for away for a few weeks?" Natasha asked taking her co-pilot seat next to Steve.
"She'll be fine, Nat. We'll talk to her everyday and we know Clint can handle taking care of her. You think the kids will be excited to meet her?" Steve replied
"Yeah, Clint says they're excited. Especially about her "magic". Lila is just happy to have another girl in the house." Natasha laughed
"And Laura's okay with it too?"
"Yeah, she's excited to meet her too."
"Good...that's good." Steve nodded
A few hours later they were landing in the small field near the Barton home. Wanda stood up stretching her legs, engulfing her bag with clouds of red. Steve and Natasha grabbed their bags as they opened the hatch to the jet. Wanda stood back with Steve as Natasha was engulfed by hugs from the Barton children.
"Wow you guys are getting so big, you've got to stop growing on me!" Natasha said settling Lila on her hip and ruffling Cooper's hair.
"Come on kid" Steve said resting a hand on Wanda's shoulders. All of them making there way to the porch where Clint and Laura stood with baby Nate.
"Good to see you kiddo" Clint said immediately hugging Wanda which caused her to drop her bag to the ground with a thud. " This is Laura ,the two little monsters who have attached themselves to Tasha are Lila and Cooper, and this is Nate." He said gesturing to the baby babbling in Laura's arms
"It's nice to finally meet you Wanda." Laura said offering Wanda a smile
"You too." Wanda replied
After Natasha had managed to pry the Barton children from her legs and Wanda had been interrogated by Lila, the little girl amazed by her in every way, before being coaxed into helping "Uncle Steve" set the table for dinner. Wanda was given a tour of the Barton house.
"Nat's room is right here, Cooper and Lila's just down the hall, and mine and Laura's is down stairs next to the nursery. Yours is this one." Clint said opening a door directly across from Natasha's. "It was the guest room but now it's yours kiddo. Lila even made you this for the door." Clint said holding up a piece of paper with Wanda scribbled on it with glitter glue and decorated with stick figures. Wanda walked further into the room taking it in, with the light blue walls and yellow patchwork quilt, and a old bookshelf and chair in the corner. "There's a bathroom right next door, everything else is on the main floor."
"Thanks Clint, really for everything." Wanda said crossing the room to hug the man " I wouldn't have had any of this without you."
"Anytime kid." He said ruffling her hair. "Let's go start dinner"
Within an hour burgers and hot dogs had been grilled and Wanda had taken her place at the dinner table with Lila on one side, babbling on about something Wanda wasn't quite sure of, and the familiarity that encompasses her usual seat next to Natasha. The night was spent with many laughs and stories, when the kids requested a campfire there were no objections. They were instantly fascinated by Wanda floating marshmallows above the fire for them, placing them directly onto gram crackers and pieces of chocolate. Wanda would be lying if she said the smiles didn't melt her heart. This seemed too good to be true like a scene from a movie, the kind Sam would claim he wouldn't cry during.
After an hour the sun had long since set and the kids were sent to bed, tucked in by their Auntie Nat and Uncle Steve by request. Wanda and the adults remain by the fire, Wanda surprised that she hadn't been sent to bed as well.
After many drinks and laughs, the fire slowly dwindled into small embers.
"Well we should probably head in..." Steve said giving a hand to Natasha to pull her off the bench they had sat on. "You too little witch. We'll be up in a minute." Wanda gives  her mentors a nod before making her way back towards the light of the porch.
"Steve, I've already set up the blankets on the couch for you. You should have everything you need." Laura said on their way back to the house.
"Thank you, Ma'am." Steve replied.
"Don't be stupid Steve, we can share my room." Natasha said elbowing him in the side as they made their way up the porch steps.
"Really I'll be fine on the couch it's just for the night-"
"We've been on probably a hundred missions together where we've shared a bed and you'd rather sleep on the couch?Come on." Natasha said pulling Steve up the stairs inside the Barton house.
"It's best just not to argue with Tash, Cap." Clint laughed behind them
Laura and Clint cleaned the kitchen while the others quietly got read for bed.
"Is there something going on between Tasha and Steve?" Laura asked
"Why do you think I seemed so shocked when you asked me about her and banner. You know she's crazy about him. Remember when I went on leave the first time, Tasha and Cap take down hydra and she immediately comes back with heart eyes for the guy." Clint laughed
"I think this is the happiest I've seen her in a long time." Laura said "she deserves something good."
"I know and don't worry, Laur. I'll give him the big brother talk." Clint said walking to hug his wife.
Upstairs Wanda dresses in her pjs and settled herself under the yellow quilt. A knock sounded on the door and Natasha and Steve entered.
"Hey, you all ready for bed?" Natasha asked crossing the room to Wanda's side.
"Yeah, today was a good day." Wanda smiled
"I'm glad you had fun kid, you deserve a break." Steve said " Get some rest." He added placing a kiss on the top of her head.
"Night Wands" Natasha said doing the same
"Goodnight." Wanda replied
That night Wanda slept dreamlessly. She was surprised when she had awoken at nearly 10 o'clock without any interruptions. Wanda rubbed her eyes and ran a hand through her hair, placing it in a messy bun on the top of her head.
Wanda entered the kitchen to find Steve and Natasha already sitting at the table with Clint and Laura drinking coffee. Natasha eyes turned to Wanda when she entered the room and she shot the young girl a smile as she nodded to the chair next to her. Wanda crossed the room and eagerly accepted the cup of coffee Natasha offered her. It had probably been the spy's, far too sweet for her liking. Wanda wasn't a fan of coffee but she welcomed the bitter taste in the mornings. Wanda sighed the affects of sleep not worn off as she leaned against the spy from her chair.
"You sleep okay?" Clint asked
"Yeah." Wanda nodded sleepily against Natasha's shoulder
"Are teenagers always supposed to be tired?" Laura teased
"Even enhanced, superhero teenagers." Steve added, Wanda did her best to shoot an annoyed glare which ultimately failed. She couldn't help it, she was just too happy to be upset.
The day went by quickly Lila begging for the attention of her new "cousin", cuddling baby Nate, and playing catch with Cooper. Natasha was happy to see the young girl adjust to the children quickly, they could be a handful. Soon it was time for Steve and Natasha to say goodbye and head back to the compound.
Wanda tried her best to hold back the tears, it wasn't that she didn't like Clint and Laura but she didn't want them to leave.
"It's okay, malyshka. We'll see you soon." Natasha said pulling the young girl into a hug, Wanda burying her head in Natasha's neck. Wanda sniffled when the older woman whipped the tears from her cheeks, but it didn't go unnoticed that Natasha's eyes seemed more glossy than usual. "We'll talk all the time." Nat reminded her
"Be good kiddo." Steve said pulling Wanda into a hug.
"Of course, Dad." She replied with a laugh.
Wanda sighed as she watched the jet take off. Surely she would be home soon right?
