Percy Jackson is Goode High School's most popular boy. With his sea-green eyes and amazing looks, everyone loves him. He is the captain of the swim team, and he is always smiling, and teasing his friends.

Annabeth Chase plays the lead role in their school theater. She thinks Percy is annoying, arrogant, and way too good. Slowly, they start to become friends.

But on one day, everything changes. Percy is no longer the happy, teasing boy they once knew. Even though he is constantly still teasing his friends, deep down inside, he is breaking.

Because there's something Percy knows that everyone else doesn't. Something that is about to change his life forever. And his biggest secret, is the thing he doesn't want anyone to find out about. And they won't.

Because it isn't that hard to fake a smile. It isn't that hard to pretend everything's fine when it's not. It's not hard to keep a secret.

Especially when you've been doing it your whole life.

A word she had longed to hear, yet feared the most. Would he accept it? Or would he push her away again, just like before? The door creaked open. Her heart pounded. Sharad's sharp gaze met hers. "What are you hiding?" Her breath hitched. She wasn't ready for this. Not yet.
