Kaycee

The show was awesome. Brooke and I danced around and had an absolute blast. I still couldn't believe that we were there. Matthew came off the stage beaming. You could tell that he belonged there. The stage was his place to go and escape from whatever was going on in his world. Brooke and I waited in the lounge for the boys to change. They said they were going to take us to eat.

"Are you ladies ready?" A tall, tan, blonde headed boy asked.

Brooke and I glance at each other. She had a big cheesy grin on her face. "Yes we are."

"I'm James. You must be Brooke." He extended his hand for a handshake. "And you must be THE Kaycee that I've heard about."

"That would be me." I could feel my cheeks burning. I blushed more that night then I have in my entire life.

"James, leave the girls alone. They aren't here to see us." Another boy walked up. He was tall with brown hair. He wasn't as tan as James, but he was still very cute. I knew that Brooke was in heaven being surrounded by all of these cute boys. "Hey. I'm Josh. Drew and Matt should be out in a few."

"Nice to meet you." I said.

"So how long have you guys known each other? How did you guys become a band?" Brooke asked, while grabbing a piece of fruit from the plate in front of her.

"We've all known each other for years. We all just met up to hang out one weekend. Of course, we started playing music and we just all felt it click right then." Josh explained.

"Oh I gotcha. You guys really work together. It's hard to do." I could tell Brooke was really impressed by them. It takes a lot to impress her.

"Thanks. It just comes natural, I guess." James said.

Brooke continued to chat with James and Josh about their music and their careers. I imagined this is what it would be like in a meeting with her. She's always working some deal or forming new connections. Drew and Matthew walked in a few minutes later. Drew went to the food table and Matthew came and sat next to me. I could feel the nerves setting in.

"So, what did you think?" Matthew asked, nudging me with his shoulder.

"It was awesome!" I said and nudged him back. "You guys are great. I could tell you really love it out there."

"I do. It's an indescribable feeling." He said.

"I could never do anything like that. With everyone watching me. I would freeze up or something." I said while shaking my head.

"I bet you could. You're a teacher. You take care of people's kids. I bet you can do anything."

"That's different. I take care of 12 people a day." I smiled. "You share parts of your life with 30,000 people every night. That's amazing."

"Thanks." He smiled back at me.

"Sorry to interrupt everyone, but is anyone else starving?" Drew asked walking over empty handed from the food table.

"Yes!" Josh, James, and Brooke all agreed. Matthew and I just smiled. I had almost forgotten there were other people in the room.

We ended up going to a small 24-hour diner not far from the venue. We were the only ones there and we stayed for a while after we finished eating. Josh and James were definitely the two goofs of the groups. They kept doing or saying things that had us all laughing.

"You guys are so funny." I said laughing.

"Thanks, we know." They looked at each other and bowed.
