"baby, what do you think about this puppy ?" you asked your boyfriend as you were playing with a little puppy. you had a bright smile representing your happiness.

you've been preparing the house for weeks for an upcoming puppy. and today, it was the day where you had to choose the little puppy you wanted to adopt.

"but.. bun, that's a little golden retriever.." you heard Yunho reply with a pout.
you took the little one that was licking your cheek while you were giggling at the feeling. "and so..? don't you think she's cute ?" this time, it was your time to pout.

to be honest, you met a lot of puppies here, but you didn't meet one as friendly as this one.

feminine gender, this puppy had everything you wished. it was the perfect one. this beautiful cream-coloured fur, so soft, two little yet sparkling dark eyes.. it was like this puppy was meant for you.

"i do think this puppy is cute." Yunho was clearly avoiding the sight you were offering him: he didn't want to see you being this cute with the puppy.
"what's the problem then..?" you asked, a little sad. the puppy noticed it and rested his little head on your shoulder as if she wanted to hug you.
"there are a lot of puppies here, and you had to choose a golden retriever..?" Yunho pouted as he finally looked down at you.

you laughed, since you didn't expect this to be the reason of him sulking.

"is my lover jealous ? ~" he blushed a little as he heard you playing with his jealousy.
"it's just that.. i thought i was your only golden retriever.." he looked away from your figure being hugged by the puppy. your heart melted as you saw your boyfriend being jealous over this puppy.

yunho eventually agreed for adopting a little puppy. you asked him for a dog for months. he agreed because he knew that you were missing him when he's not home because of his schedules. and he knew you sometimes were sad being all alone. so he thought that adopting a puppy would bring joy to your relationship, and would help you feeling less alone when he's not here.
"aww, baby.. you're getting jealous over her ?" you asked teasingly while rubbing the puppy's back. "pleeeease, look at her, she's so cute.. she's calm yet joyful. she has so much love to give.. and i'm gonna think about you all day long because she's also a golden retriever !"

Yunho finally stroke the puppy's head softly. slowly, he was giving up being the jealous guy.

"she is cute. and i'm sure she has so much love to give. just like the others puppies here. but i'm still jealous. see, you just say that you need a golden retriever to think about me. you're giving more attention to her than to me.." he pouted again, and you laughed playfully.

you let go of the little dog. she sat down by your foot, and was looking up at you. her eyes were full of stars and she was swinging her tail. your heart melted once again.
"okay i get it, baby. let's see if there is an another puppy here that might make my heart flutter" you crouched by the golden retriever. she looked so sad, as if she understood everything. you looked down to her little collar to see her name on it, and then you whispered to her. "don't worry Pumpkin. i'm sure he loves you, and i really want to adopt you. wait for me, i'll be back, alright ? ~" you giggled as you heard her little voice when she barked, and then stood up.

you walked through the different big areas of the WSPA. no other puppies caught your eyes: Pumpkin was the only one. but you felt kinda guilty. even though you wanted Pumpkin so bad, seeing all those dogs that have been abandoned by their owner almost made you cry.
you grabbed your boyfriend's arms.

"why did their masters abandon them.. you have your family, your friends, and more. your dog has only you. you are literally your dog's world.. i hope the best for all of them.." you smiled weakly as you saw some puppies who were hurt. but they still were playing.
"i have absolutely no idea.." Yunho replied.

you thought about your boyfriend being way quieter than usually. you were wondering what he was thinking about. was he thinking about Pumpkin ?

suddenly, you heard little barks behind you. you giggled as you saw Pumpkin running to you, with her bright eyes. she seemed so happy by your side..

you were already loving her, and she was loving you like her new master already.

you bend over, and took her in your arms. all giggly because of her kisses on your cheek, Yunho was watching you with a bright smile.

maybe Pumpkin was meant for you, after all..?

he approached you, and rubbed the puppy's back again. when she wasn't stressed anymore by his presence, he took her from your arms. he lifted her to the level of his eyes. he was looking into hers like if he was scanning her soul.
after a moment, she shyly licked the tip of his nose, and it got the best of him. he giggled, and kissed her muzzle.

"maybe adopting her isn't a bad idea, after all..?"

your eyes shone with stars.

this day was the first day of Pumpkin's new life.
