Why?

I had not been kissed by anyone in a very, very long time. In fact, the last time was when I had been on Earth. I had forgotten how a kiss could make butterflies flutter in my stomach, and right now those little metaphorical butterflies were on crack.

When Alastor finally pulled back to look at me, I knew my cheeks were probably flushed. His grin told me he hand enjoyed the kiss as much as I did. But I couldn't help but ask, "Why?"

Alastor shrugged, settling back against the couch, "I had been regretting not doing that sooner while I was sitting by your hospital bed."

Wincing as I shifted, I leaned my head against his shoulder, "The Radio Demon and the detective who hunts serial killers...who would have thought?"

Chuckling, Alastor kissed my forehead, "Well, there is good news on that front. The cult members we caught in the raid had a fair amount of evidence stashed away. It was a clean bust."

I sighed in relief. I had been so preoccupied with not dying for a second time that I had hardly thought about the raid. But everything had worked out in the end, which is more than I could have hoped for.

"You sit here and rest," Alastor broke my train of thought, "I'll go get us some dinner. After that awful hospital food, I think a treat is in order."
