A/N: "Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true." (E.Y. Harburg). "Every storm in your life is followed by a rainbow."
Remember, the Fenux disease is my own creation. "Midori" means green in Japanese. "Woof-woof" is how I described Lan's bark. 😊 Cr. to the owners of the pictures and quotes.
Mew is lying down on his bed, feeling like the weather outside; gloomy. He feels sad, desperate about his situation. Since Mew started the treatment, he had noticed that his body is taking a turn for the worse.
More white spots on his face, body ache, and he had lost a considerable amount of weight. It is expected, he hardly has any appetite, and when he eats, he runs to the bathroom most of the time to let go of the nutrients he previously consumed.
It is usual for him to feel hopeless; his life depends on how well his body will react to the treatment. He sleeps most of the time, and when he is awake, he goes to the hospital, talks with Lamai for a while, and takes quick showers.
Dr. Jovi recommends having at least 40 sections of chemotherapy to see if this can put the disease into a dormant state. Mew agreed; he wants to see if this can help him beat the disease like the first time. The bad news is that those cancerous cells have memories and may not react the same to the same chemotherapy as five years ago.
Lan's barking draws Mew's attention to the door. He usually leaves the door open, but for the past few days, he just wants to be alone, he just wants to sleep because he feels nothing is interesting enough for him to get up from the bed.
Woof-woof
Lan continues to bark to let Mew knows he is outside and wants to come into the bedroom.
Mew opened the door and looked down at Lan, wiggling his tiny tail.
"Hello, Lan, sorry I am not able to play with you these past days." Mew bend down and picked up Lan. He placed him on his bed. Mew caresses Lan's black and soft fur.
In exchange, Lan panted and got closer to Mew's skin. Mew keeps patting Lan when a knock at the door interrupted their interaction.
"Come in," Mew said as he holds Lan, preventing him from jumping off the bed.
"Mew, I made tea, would you like to come down and seat in the living room with me?" Lamai gave Mew a gentle smile, one of those smiles she reserves only for her son.
She continues, "I know the weather is not ideal to be outside, but you have days cramped in your room." Lamai noticed how Mew's body tensed for a moment.
"Thanks, Lamai, but I preferred to stay here for a while, plus Lan is keeping me company." Mew smiled at Lan.
"How can I make him get out of this room? He is getting depressed, I know that, but don't want to push him. Just give him time. Don't be an overprotective mother, he does not like that." All those thoughts rushed into Lamai's head, yet she continues to smile at Mew.
"Ok, you can stay here if you feel more comfortable, but I will come back and bring you some hot tea. It will help you stay warm with this weather." Lamai left the room and Mew continue to pat Lan.
Even though is Seattle and the weather most of the time is overcast, today is even cloudiest; well, Mew sees it this way, perhaps because he feels the same way.
Lamai entered the kitchen with a sorrowful face. Penchan did not have to ask; she knows that Mrs. Ratri is worry about her son.
"Mrs. Ratri does not worry, it is normal for Young Mew to feel this way. He will come through; we just need to be there for him." Penchan placed a bluish porcelain cup on a tray and filled it with the hot aromatic herbal tea that invaded the whole kitchen.
