Chapter 44

Maia P.O.V.

I heard yelling, it was Ross. I heard him fall to the floor. "Maia, it's all my fault." I ran to the door, seeing Ross through the peep hole. I opened the door. Ross immediately looked up. He stood up, wiping his eyes. Ross picked me up, spinning me around and hugging me tightly.

"I.. I thought you.." He stuttered in between his sobs. I clung to his shirt. "Shh.. shh.. I'm fine, calm down." I came back into reality, realizing he wasn't mine. I let go and pushed out of his arms, walking back into my apartment. Ross was calming down as he walked inside. I walked towards him, slightly rubbing his back to help him calm down. Rocky stood up off the couch. "Uh.. hey Ross."

"Hey Rock, what are you doing here?" I stopped rubbing his back. "We were watching a movie." Ross nodded. "I thought you were supposed to hang out with Laura tonight?" Ross looked confused. "Yeah, I decided to hang out with Maia, Laura will get over it."

"She's been calling and texting you for the passed couple hours." Rocky nodded, "I know." Ross turned back to me. "Will you come back to the house for the night?" I shook my head. "I told you, I want to stay in my own place, not be a burden." Ross shook his head, grabbing my hands in his. "I need you to stay there, I need to be in the same place as you. I need to make sure you are okay. I need to know that I can save you if something happens. What if you actually do cut this time and I can't get over here fast enough? MAIA YOU WOULD BE DEAD JUST LIKE THAT!"

I bit my lower lip, contemplating on just going with him. "I can't, I need to be here, in my own home." I pulled my hands away, turning around. "Then I'm staying with you." He turned me around so that I was facing him. "I don't want to cause trouble between you and Laura. Look, I promise I won't do anything that could hurt me."

Ross shook his head. "She understands that nothing is going to happen and she has nothing to worry about. Laura needs to understand that you are in my life and I want you to be. Rocky will keep Laura company." I shook my head, "Go home, Ross. Be with Laura, be with your family, I made a promise and I intend to keep it. Just believe me, I won't cut."

"I'll stay with her, I mean, if it's alright with you, Maia." Rocky walked over to us, looking at me for approval. I nodded. Ross looked at us approvingly. "Okay, but if anything happens, anything at all, call me, whatever time it is, don't hesitate to call me."

"Rock, can I talk to you?" Rocky nodded. Ross pulled him to the side, I could just barely hear what they were saying. "So you guys?" Ross asked gesturing towards me and Rocky thinking I couldn't see him. Rocky nodded, "I like her." I blushed. Ross smiled. "I'm happy for you." 

"She's a great girl, don't hurt her or I'll have to hurt you." I could hear the joking tone in his voice, I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing. "You have my word, I won't hurt her." 

"Alright, bye Mitchell, bye Lynch," Ross said just before kissing the top of my forehead and squeezing me tightly. "Bye Shor," I called as Ross was walking out the door. He waved. "Thank you, I appreciate everything you guys are doing for me. I just don't want to be dependent on you guys to live my life. You're already doing more than enough for me." Rocky nodded. "We care about you... I care about you." 

"Uh, listen... Rocky.. I like you, too."
