I jumped in Riker's car that morning while everyone else was still getting ready. I had to go in early for orientation. I got a text from my 'boyfriend' that morning. I still wasn't sure what to call him considering we were on a break.

"Hey, we haven't spoken in a while."

"Last time we talked, we got in a huge fight and started our 'break' that day."

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be, I'm over it."

"I heard about your parents."

"Is that the only reason you're texting me?"

I didn't even bother to look at his other texts as we pulled into the parking lot.

"Dells just sent me a text," He tapped a few times on the screen, "They left like 10 minutes ago. She wants us to wait."

I glanced out the window as I unbuckled my seatbelt. "Fuck." I scrunched down further in the seat and covered my head. "Riker, I can't do this."

"What's wrong?"

"That's my.. well I guess he's my ex now. We're on a break."

Riker looked passed me out the window to the boy getting out of his car. He was the only other person in the parking lot, though we were parked far away. "He cheated on me.. that's why we were fighting."

We got out of the car as Rydel and the boys pulled up. "I just really don't want to see him right now." Ross walked up behind us. "Who?" I turned. "My ex is here, a new student as well. He cheated on me and I just would rather not face him." His smile faded. "I'm sorry."

"I'm over it I guess.." He studied my facial expression, "No you're not."

"I got this, trust me, alright?" I slowly nodded. "C'mon."

I looked over at him once again. We locked eyes and I quickly looked away as Ross and I started to walk towards the office. "He's right behind us," I whispered. Ross slipped his hand through mine.

"Laura!" I turned around, "Hello, Wyatt."

"I wanted to talk to you face to face." I pulled my bag up more on my shoulder. "Can we talk in privet for a minute?" I shook my head, "I've got to get to orientation." He smiled, "I'll come along, I have to go too." I held Ross' hand tighter, Wyatt didn't seem to notice. He tried to grab my hand as we walked towards the building but I pulled away.

"What's wrong?" I looked at him, confused. "We're not together anymore." He stopped dead in his tracks, "We were on a break, and now we aren't." I shook my head. "We broke up, that's it," I pulled Ross ahead. He stared at our hands and spoke something quietly to himself before we were out of his sight.

I stopped in front of the office as Ross turned to me. I breathed deeply. He wrapped his arms around me and engulfed me into a hug.

"I just want to get this day over with." He let go and we walked inside. "Hello, I'm Laura Marano," I said to the woman behind the desk. "One second, sweetie." She quickly tapped away at the keys of her computer and responded, "Yes, your name is right here." She walked away for a few seconds and then returned, "Here is your student planner and some information packets that you might want to look over." She opened the folder and pointed to each paper inside. "This one is your schedule and- Oh I almost forgot to ask.. would you like a student guide?"

"I've already got one, but thank you!"

The others met up with us and walked Ross and I to our first class. We promised to meet back up for lunch at 6th period.

I looked up at Ross, "You don't have to sit with me in class. I want you to sit with your friends."

"What if I want to sit with you?" I smiled. "Where's your girlfriend? I wanna meet her, she's probably awesome." He bit his lip, "I don't have one." I laughed. "C'mon, you're attractive, nice, awesome.. You gotta have one." He shook his head. I put my hand to my chest in disbelief and gasped.

"My friends are gonna love you," He grabbed my hand and pulled me in the classroom. "Why?"

"Because you're a teenager and you're a girl." I laughed as Ross pulled me over to his friends. "This is Laura. She's the girl I said was gonna be living with us."

"Can I get your number?" Ross smacked the back of the boy's head. "Ow," The boy spoke, rubbing it. "Guess that's a no then?" I laughed, "Not necessarily." He smirked, "Why don't you sit next to me?"

Ross interjected, "That's okay, we can sit over here." He guided me to the two empty seats behind the guys. "I was just trying to be nice," I whispered. He laughed, "Trust me, they already like you."
