3 weeks later...

"Laura! I'm about to leave, hurry up," Rydel called from downstairs. "I'm moving as fast as I can, Dells," I yelled back down. I threw shoe after shoe over my shoulder trying to find the new ones we just bought to go perfectly with this outfit for her date tonight.

Yes. Rydel has a date tonight, with a boy she met while we were shopping 2 weeks ago.

"Found them!" I rushed down the stairs. "He's picking you up in 3 minutes, what the hell are you doing?" She glared, "Waiting for you!" I shrugged, "Hey, give me a break! I found them, didn't I?"

Rydel was going on her first date.. like ever.

"I'd love to wait with you, bud, but I've got a ton of homework and plans tomorrow." Rydel giggled, "No problem, he'll be here any minute." I smiled, "Call me down when you get back, I wanna hear every single detail!"

I grabbed the water from the kitchen and headed to our shared room. About an hour and a half later, I finished and decided to see how Rydel's date was going.

"Hey, Delly!!! I hope you're having a super amazing time and I can't wait to hear allllllllll about it when you get home."

I threw my phone on the bed and headed into the boys' room. They were all gathered in there playing video games for the last hour. "Well isn't this just the cutest thing!" Riker shushed me. Ross agreed, "Yes, but only me, Laur. Don't lie to the others." Ryland and Rocky acted like I wasn't even there. "Wow, what a warm welcome. I wanna play!" I jumped between Ross and Riker.

"Give us like 10 more seconds."

They all cheered. Riker picked me up and spun me around. "I could've done better," I boasted. "Wow, you're so humble."

"C'mon," I protested, "Let me try to beat you."

"No."

I walked out, "Whatever, you're just scared." I went inside my room (they finally got my room all set up), grabbing my phone off the bed and then heading downstairs.

I found Stormie in the kitchen. "Everything alright, Stormie?" She nodded, "I just hope Rydel is okay." I smiled, "I bet she's having an awesome time." She agreed, "She seems to really like this boy, what do you think of him? She wouldn't let me meet him beforehand. She thinks it's too soon."

"Maybe just a little bit too soon. He seemed nice when we met him. I only really talked to him for a few minutes though, otherwise I left them be and have their own space." Stormie nodded and removed her hair from the ponytail. "I actually texted her a few minutes ago. I'll see if she responded." I reached in my pocket for my phone and tapped the new message from Rydel. "Uh oh."

"What's wrong, hun?" I gestured towards the door, "She never left the porch. He stood her up."

Stormie and I headed towards the door. Rydel was outside, makeup smeared and her dress was a mess. I reached for her hand, "Come inside." I put my arm around her waist and held her other arm to help her up the little steps. We went upstairs so that they boys wouldn't see, they didn't think it was a good idea in the first place.. guess they were right.

"What happened, sweetie?"

"Luke texted me and said he was running late, that he got caught in traffic. So I went outside to wait for him. He called me a few minutes later, I figured it must have dialed me by accident because of what I heard him and another girl say. I ended the call after they finished talking and called back. I told him off, but that was only 10 minutes ago. He said he was gonna stop by to fix this but I really don't want to hear it. Can you please take care of it?"

"Of course, Del." I reached for her phone as it rang. "I'll be right back." I slid my finger over the bottom of the screen, answering the call. "Hello?" He breathed a sigh of relief, "I'm outside." I hung up and walked down the stairs. Riker was walking quickly after me. "What's wrong with Del?" I flung open the door and stood on the steps, impatiently tapping my foot. "Luke stood her up and he accidentally dialed her. She heard all the awful things he said about her to his girlfriend."

"Where's Rydel?" Luke shut his car door. "She's inside." He walked closer. "Can I speak to her?" I shook my head. "Care to explain why she's been sitting on this step waiting for you for over an hour and a half," Riker asked. "I forgot," Luke shrugged.

"You accidentally dialed her, she heard everything.. You're pathetic."

"Me? Pathetic? What's pathetic is never going on a date before as a senior in high school?"

Riker lunged forward, punching him in the face and knocking him to the ground. "If you ever hurt my little sister again, you will live to regret it."
