Chapter 38

Laura P.O.V.

"I have to go to him, I have to try and make this right." I tried running out the door, but Maia stopped me. "No, he's mine now. You missed your chance. HE DOESN'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE," Maia screamed, making Stormie run back into the room. "Then why did he go check on me, why did he pull me out of my burning house, why did he kiss me?"

Maia was speechless. "He felt sorry for you, a charity case like yourself, no family." Riker stepped in front of me, "You're wrong there Maia, we're her family." I smiled at Riker's comment. "Ross told me he loves me." I stepped in front of Riker and punched Maia right in the face. She fell to the ground holding her nose. Rydel screamed. "Maia, get the fuck out of our house right now!" Maia stumbled to get up, then ran home. I fell to the floor.

"I'm the reason we're not together. I should have let him explain. I didn't even give him a chance, I pushed him right out of my arms and into hers. I have to go look for him, this is all my fault." Riker pulled me into a hug, "Laura this isn't your fault, calm down. We're all gonna look for him, you're not alone."

Rocky tapped my shoulder and pulled me into the other room. "Laura, what about us? What about that kiss we shared?" I held his hand, not knowing what to say. "Rocky... I like you, I really do. I like spending time with you, going to see the Lego movie multiple times with you. You have to understand that I love Ross and nothing can change that." Rocky let go of my hand. "There's a girl out there who is perfect for you, it's just not me." I walked into the living room.

"I'm going to search for Ross," I said starting towards the door. Rydel grabbed my wrist, pulling me back. "We're all coming with you." I smiled, hugging her. "Listen guys, I'm sorry for all the yelling and punching Maia," I said to everyone including Stormie and Mark. "Don't be, I've been wanting to punch her since she walked through the door," Rydel said. Stormie laughed, "She was rather mean wasn't she?" We all nodded in agreement, even Mark.

We searched for hours. Mark and Stormie stayed at the house, just in case Ross decided to come back home. We drove around each corner, looked down every street, checked every alley. I suddenly realized where he was. "Riker, drive back to the house now!" Riker, now speeding down the streets, finally stopped in front of the house. I ran inside, ignoring the other voices and only slowing down once I saw his face outside my window. He smiled as I opened the window.

"Ross I know, I know that you didn't really cheat on me and I know that I still love you. And I know that I want you to be mine again. Oh, and I punched Maia in the face." Ross chuckled placing his hand on mine and resting them both on the windowsill. "I'm sorry, Laura." I shook my head. "No, stop. You don't need to apologize. It's my fault, I'm the one who declined your calls, ignored your texts, closed the curtains, and locked the door." Ross interlocked our hands.

"Baby, this is your fault, it's on both of us. All I care about is that we're back together. I love you, Laura." Ross put his free hand on my cheek as best he could considering he was in a tree. "I love you, Ross." I leaned out the window and met him half way with a kiss. It made me think of our first kiss, which is why this is the place he would come after we had a fight, to remember why we got together in the first place.

FLASHBACK
Ross P.O.V.

"Ross...I-"

I put my finger to her lips and pulled her close. She cried into my chest. I felt electricity when we touched. I need to think this through. I let go of her. I was no longer thinking of the feelings I have for her. The feelings came rushing back as I pulled her close again. Everything gets so confusing when we are close. But, I like having feelings for Laura and I like having her close.

"You don't understand what it feels like to be alone in the world, Ross."

"You aren't alone, you have me."

We started leaning in and I could smell the flavored gloss on her lips. I closed my eyes, and then I felt her soft warm lips on mine.
