"But first, we need the materials needed to fix it," Kiyotaka told Mondo and pocketed the money. He walked over to the door and took his knee-high boots. He then kneeled down to tie the laces "It won't take long but watch over the house for me, please," he ordered.

"I wanna come with," Mondo said.

"No need, Mondo. We need someone to watch over the house anyway," he told him.

The android made a noise akin to a grumble and stood up, unplugging the charger off himself.

Hearing the noise, Kiyotaka scolded, "Mondo, I told you, we need someone to watch over the house. What it someone were to take our broken door as an opportunity to-" he glanced back and saw Mondo already behind him, stubborn to get out.

He sighed. There was no use to trying to convince the stubborn android otherwise. He had tried arguing with him multiple times in the past and all of his attempts failed. "Alright, fine. You can come with," he stood up once he was done tying his laces. "I hope that no one would be robbing the house by the time we're done," he spoke to himself.

Kiyotaka patted his clothes to get rid of any wrinkles. He turned to see Mondo, "By the way.. where did you get those clothes you're currently wearing?"

"I found it," Mondo answered, "In a room," he added.

"Ah, you're wearing my father's old clothes. But I don't mind. It looks pretty good on you," Kiyotaka mumbled the last part.

"Anyways, let's get going before your battery runs out. You didn't get to charge for long after all," he led Mondo outside the door.

-

They arrived at a home improvement store and Kiyotaka quickly looked for the materials while Mondo followed him around. After they were done grabbing the items, they headed to the cashier.

"Hey, Taka! It's been a while since we've seen each other," the cashier, Makoto, cheerfully greeted Kiyotaka before checking out his items.

"Hello, Makoto," Kiyotaka greeted back with a small smile.

Makoto quickly bagged the items and said, "That'll be 2000 yen."

Kiyotaka giggled in his mind at the thought of Mondo, an advanced android (albeit with unstable emotions) was cheaper than a door knob along with a few screws.

He gave Makoto the money and took the plastic bag. Before he got to leave, Makoto spoke up, "Taka, are you okay?"

Kiyotaka froze up, "What are you talking about..?"

The cashier eyed Kiyotaka worriedly, "I saw you last night, limping. Did you get attacked? I think I also heard a noise outside-"

"Yes, I'm fine. It was just an.. altercation with some of my old classmates."

Makoto nodded despite not believing him.

"Oh! And congrats to you and your new boyfriend!" Makoto applauded while smiling widely.

Kiyotaka tilted his head, "Boyfriend? I don't have a boyfriend."

"Really? But Leon said to me that you're dating someone who looks like Daiya Oowada…"

Kiyotaka's confused expression never left his face, "Daiya Oowada? Who's that?" To be honest, he was also confused about how some people had already known Mondo's existence.

"You don't know him? He's a really famous act-" Makoto answered but he was suddenly lifted up by the collar.

"I'M NOTHING LIKE DAIYA! YA HEAR ME?! NEVER WAS, NEVER WILL BE!" he yelled at the smaller boy. Their faces were inches away from each other.

Kiyotaka quickly tried to pull Mondo's arm down to make him let Makoto go, "Mondo! What are you doing!"

Mondo's angry expression immediately dissipated once he laid eyes on Kiyotaka's hands that were placed on his arm. His eyes were no longer red and he abruptly dropped Makoto.

Kiyotaka frantically apologized to Makoto, "Oh my god. I'm really sorry Makoto!"

Makoto tried to regain his footing after being dropped earlier, "I-it's not your fault, Taka. I'm alright. Not a single scratch on me," he smiled reassuringly.

Kiyotaka didn't look convinced that it wasn't his fault, "O-okay. I'll go now. Again, I'm sorry!" he apologized again before walking out of the store while pulling Mondo with him, not wanting to bother Makoto anymore.

"No need to be sorry, Taka!" Makoto yelled but he was already out of sight.

-

"Mondo, you really need to control your temper! You can't just lash out at people like that!" Kiyotaka scolded as they walked together to which Mondo responded with another grumble.

He opened his mouth to continue the scolding but he suddenly felt heavy weight against his back which made him stumble forward.

Kiyotaka managed to catch Mondo and prevented him from falling onto the ground. He sighed. There goes Mondo's battery.

-

It took a while for Kiyotaka to arrive home while carrying Mondo. He got a lot of weird and concerned stares from passersby. He had to pretend that he was only carrying a drunk friend so that none of them would report him to the police or something like that.

He set Mondo against the wall of his living room and charged him up. He left the bag full of materials right next to Mondo.

Kiyotaka went into his room. He had no work today because he only works on saturdays. He would study right now but he remembered that he still needed to call Mondo's inventor regarding warnings about the android.

He grabbed his phone (that had a cracked screen ever since the "altercation" with his old classmates last night) and turned it on. He opened the messaging app to look at Chihiro's text from earlier with the inventor's phone number.

Kiyotaka found the sounds the phone made as he dialed the number quite satisfying. He called the number and waited for the other person to answer.
