Chapter 3

"That's a nice name for you," Kiyotaka complimented. Mondo only furrowed his eyebrows and his lavender eyes looked away in response.

"So.. what can you do, Mondo?" he asked curiously.

Kiyotaka flinched when Mondo suddenly snapped his eyes towards his face again. His eyes along with the lines at the corner of his eyes turned redder than Kiyotaka's eyes.

"WHY THE HELL DO PEOPLE KEEP ASKING ME THAT?!" Mondo shouted. He looked like he wanted to pounce at Kiyotaka for that question but he managed to hold himself back because of the charging cable sticking out of his back. He was still staring daggers at him though.

Kiyotaka stiffened, "I- I'm sorry. I don't intend to offend you in any way. It's just your personality and behaviour wasn't as I expected-"

"SO WHAT IF I'M NOT AS PERFECT AS YA THOUGHT, HUH?!" Mondo yelled back and slammed his fist against Kiyotaka's living room floor.

"No, that's not what I mean. I mean that you are a bit peculiar - not in a bad way of course! I think your personality makes you special from the other androids I've seen on the internet. It makes you more.. alive," Kiyotaka explained.

Mondo paused at those words, the colour of his eyes were switching between red and purple. Kiyotaka pressed his lips into a thin line. Did he say something wrong again?

Mondo looked down, trying to avoid Kiyotaka's gaze which made his hair fall and hide most of his face, "Just - FUCK OFF AND LEAVE ME ALONE!" the tip of Mondo's ears were tinted purple.

Complying to Mondo's request, Kiyotaka stood up straight, "Okay! Um..." he stared at the direction of his bedroom as he paused to think about something, "Wait here. I have something to for you."

Kiyotaka scurried over to his room to grab something. He walked back to the living room whilst Mondo's eyes followed the familiar looking object in Kiyotaka's hand.

Kiyotaka held out the thing he was carrying towards Mondo, "Here's my laptop! You can use it to study things on the internet. Just uhm... be careful of what you're searching for. You know what they say, 'curiosity killed the cat,' hehe..." Kiyotaka laughed nervously at the memories of questionable things he stumbled upon while surfing the web. He almost physically shuddered at the thought of them.

He saw Mondo's eyes had turned back to the bright lavender colour. It looked like that his eyes lit up at the sight of the laptop.

Mondo snatched Kiyotaka's thick and old laptop without saying anything - which was a bit rude - and quickly turned it on.

"Just don't break my laptop or... ruin my files, okay? I'll be in my room if you need me," Mondo most likely wouldn't need any sort of help at all from someone like Kiyotaka but he offered it anyways.

Mondo was still silent and he started tapping away on Kiyotaka's laptop. The room was filled only by the sounds of the keyboard clicking and Mondo's soft purring/whirring.

Kiyotaka sighed. He should call Chihiro about this peculiar android. After finishing his assignments, of course.

The phone beeped slowly as Kiyotaka waited for Chihiro to answer his call.

His leg wouldn't stop bouncing while he was sitting on the side of his bed. He rarely asked for favors from his friends like this. He hoped that he wasn't calling at the wrong time...

Kiyotaka shouldn't use Chihiro for favors like this. He knew that he was the least important person in everyone's life. He shouldn't be bothering them.

He should cancel the-

"Hey Taka! It's been forever since you called me," Chihiro cheerful voice sounded through the phone

Kiyotaka jumped in surprise and quickly regained his composure - most of it, at least, "Ah, C-Chihiro! I'm in need of a little bit of help - if you're not busy, of course. So I just got an android, he just got sent to me this morning and-"

"WAIT, YOU GOT AN ANDROID?! AREN'T THEY REALLY EXPENSIVE AND RARE?! WHERE AND HOW DID YOU GET IT?!" Chihiro unexpectedly yelled out which made Kiyotaka pull his phone away from his ear from the volume.

He pressed his phone back to his ear, "Y-yes. I got him from an auction website for 100 yen," he answered.

"Um... I think that's kind of suspicious... Do you think it's dangerous? What if you accidentally bought a killer robot?" Chihiro asked worriedly.

"Well, you see, he does seems a bit 'dangerous' as he snaps in anger a lot and he seems emotionally unstable. I don't think he is a 'killer robot'. He is really strong but he doesn't have any weapons attatched to him, I think," Kiyotaka explained.

Chihiro furrowed his eyebrows. He was a bit concerned of his friend's well-being. Especially with him having an 'emotionally unstable' android living in the same house as him.

"Okay, I'll come over tomorrow. You're not busy, right? Don't you have work on the weekends?"

"Yes, I do but I go to work in the afternoon. I have free time in the morning though. Please don't force yourself to come if you're busy,"

Chihiro giggled, "Relax, Taka. I have projects but I'm not that busy," he hummed, "Then tomorrow morning it is. By the way, don't be afraid to ask for help next time if you ever need any, okay?"

"Okay," Kiyotaka lied. Despite Chihiro reassurances, he still couldn't convince himself that it was okay to ask for assistance sometimes. There would always be a nagging voice in his head that would tell him many reasons that he shouldn't.

"I gotta go now, see you tomorrow!"

"See you," right after he said that, Chihiro hung up.

Kiyotaka placed his phone back on the bedside table. What time was it again? He turned on his phone to check the time and quickly turned it off. It was a few minutes past his bedtime. He should brush his teeth and go to sleep.

Kiyotaka walked outside of his room to go to his bathroom. He glanced at the living room and saw that Mondo was still focused on his laptop. What was he even looking at?

After he had finished brushing his teeth, he went back to his room and changed into pajamas. He then turned the lights off and went to sleep.
