Mondo stood in front of the door. He fumbled with the doorknob for a good minute. It was locked but he kept fumbling with it anyways.
Eventually, he heard a crack and the doorknob bent in an abnormal way. A few parts of the doorknob fell off but Mondo ignored it. He walked in after he opened the door. He didn't close the door because it couldn't close after he tried to shut it.
He could tell that it was almost pitch black even with his night vision. The only bright place in the house was Kiyotaka's room. He must be home.
Out of curiosity (and the hope to maybe snatch Kiyotaka's laptop), he entered the room after leaving the stack of money on the living room table.
He was met with the sight of Kiyotaka who was staring intently at the book on the table, his back looked a bit hunched.
"Kiyotaka," Mondo blurted out.
Kiyotaka let out a loud gasp and jumped in his seat. His head snapped towards Mondo's figure in the doorway, "Huh- Oh, Mondo," he sighed in relief, "I.. I thought you were gone for good."
Mondo walked closer to Kiyotaka and his eyes flashed blue as he stared at Kiyotaka's obvious eye bags. His staring was making Kiyotaka feel a bit self-conscious.
Kiyotaka tiredly started, "Do you need anything? If you want to-" he was cut off by his own long yawn, "-borrow my laptop I still haven't charged it yet."
Mondo's hand was placed against Kiyotaka's cheek and his thumb rubbed against the dark colour under Kiyotaka's eyes in an attempt to perhaps wipe the dark colour away. Kiyotaka squirmed uncomfortably a bit at the contact.
"It's not comin' off," Mondo said before he let go of Kiyotaka's face.
Kiyotaka looked puzzled for a while until he let out a quiet giggle. Mondo's eyes flashed pink at that.
"You must be talking about my eyebags," Kiyotaka pointed at the underside of his eye, "You can't really just wipe it off to get rid of them. It'll probably disappear once I get a good night's rest."
"Then go 'get a good night's rest'," Mondo suggested.
"I will later. After I finish-" Kiyotaka yelped as Mondo abruptly lifted him up by the armpits like how some people would pick up cats (the wrong way).
He silently lifted Kiyotaka in the air and walked over to his bed and casually dropped him on it, making him sit up straight on the bed.
"Mondo! I still need to-" Kiyotaka interjected but Mondo pushed him down with one hand against his chest so that his head was laying down against the pillow.
Kiyotaka grumbled and crossed his arms. He was clearly upset about how Mondo wasn't allowing him to study further. And it seemed that he wasn't going to allow him to even get up from the bed.
He sighed. He tucked himself under the blanket. He instantly felt how sleepy he was once he was comfortable on the bed. His eyes felt heavier than before. Ignoring Mondo's glare under the still active light of his room, he dozed off.
Mondo's unblinking eyes stared at the asleep boy the entire night accompanied by the sound of quiet whirring. He noticed more dark marks on Kiyotaka's body. Specifically on his wrist. It will probably also go away after Kiyotaka had slept.
-
Kiyotaka's eyes snapped open. He suddenly felt a heavy weight on his chest. Really heavy.
He let out a hiss as he let his eyes adjust to the blinding brightness of his lightbulb. He wasn't used to sleeping with the lights on.
