Mondo had been acting a bit strange lately.
He seemed to have been more.. touchier lately. Everytime they walked home together, he would pull Kiyotaka close to him and not let Kiyotaka move at least an inch away from him.
He felt a bit uncomfortable because of the atmosphere. He didn't know what made him so uncomfortable. It just felt that Mondo was emitting a weird aura.
Kiyotaka was a bit relieved that he finally got some alone time from Mondo when it was work day. That didn't mean he disliked him. Mondo was the person(?) he cared for the most. He just wanted to get away for a bit after whatever's going on. Sometimes, even the closest friends need some time away from each other.
The day went by as normally as any other work days would. Other people might think that it was tiring or boring but Kiyotaka was used to being bored and tired.
Once again, he hesitated going down his usual path to go home.
'Why are you avoiding your punishment? You deserved it after-'
Kiyotaka shook his head. Now was not the time, he thought.
He speed walked down the sidewalk. He hoped that no one would call out to him this time.
But then he smelled something weird as he walked by an alleyway.
Of course it would smell weird. It was an alleyway. It must be filled with trash and such. But the smell was so unusual that it grabbed his attention. He passed this alleyway once a week and it never smelled like that.
Curiously, he walked inside the alleyway. The smell just got stronger and stronger. It was a bit dark so he had to squint his eyes to see better.
There were a lot of flies here. Some of them flied past him and the buzzing near his ears was annoying.
He felt that his boot nudged something. He looked down and saw a hand right next to a dumpster.
He didn't know if it was just dark or did the hand seemed disembodied.
His eyes moved towards the upper part of the dumpster. What he saw made him utterly sick.
There was a man laid there, motionless inside the dumpster. His face was battered to the point that it was unrecognizable. One of his hands was missing and the other arm was bent out of shape. Kiyotaka recognized the jacket the man was wearing.
That was when he realised there was dried-up blood everywhere. On the floor and on the alleyway walls. He also noticed a few more bodies inside the dumpster.

His eyes widened, "Wh-who did this...?"
He covered his mouth and nose as he gagged at the sight. Out of shock and fear, he ran out of the alleyway with no clear direction.
Once his legs felt tired, he leaned against the nearest wall. He held himself back from vomiting on the spot by trying to control his breathing. He absolutely hate vomiting. It would always burn his throat and leave a disgusting taste in his mouth.
He let out a relieved sigh once he no longer felt sick. He stood up straight and was about to continue walking home.
"Hey, uh... Ya okay?" a voice said.
He looked to his side and saw a familiar man wearing a familiar mask, cap, and a pair of sunglasses.
"What are you doing here, Oowada?" Kiyotaka tilted his head.
"Ey, answer my question first."
Kiyotaka averted his gaze, "..I'm okay. Hopefully," he answered.
Daiya sighed before answering Kiyotaka's previous question, "I was going to visit the grocery store to meet ya. I didn't expect to meet ya like this, to be honest."
"...The grocery store?" Kiyotaka muttered and looked at the wall he was previously leaning against. He looked around his surroundings and saw that he had in fact run all the way back to the grocery store.
"Yikes, what happened that made ya run until ya don't even know where yer' goin'?" he asked as he leaned down so that they were at the same eye level (the older man was quite tall, after all).
Kiyotaka shook his head, not wanting to remember the image, "I'd rather not talk about it. I should go home-"
Daiya gently placed a hand on his shoulder, "Hey, hey, why don't ya chill out for a bit? Grab a drink or somethin'. Ya strike me as the type of guy who immediately do chores once ya arrived home."
Kiyotaka stayed silent. He wasn't wrong about the last part.
"I have my duties as a student-"
"C'mon, it's a Saturday. Let loose a bit or else yer' gonna overwork yerself. I know this great cafe not so far from here. We could grab a drink or two and I'll pay for it," Daiya offered.
"Pay for it?- No! Why are you offering such things to me?"
Daiya sighed, "Look, ya just seem like a cool guy and I just wanna try and be friends with ya. And hey, we might be something more," Kiyotaka could see his wink from under his sunglasses.
Oblivuous to the implication, Kiyotaka's eyes lit up, "You want to be friends..?" it had been a while since he made new friends.
"Yeah, of course. So.. ya wanna grab a drink with me or what?"
"Yes!" Kiyotaka beamed.
-
They chatted for almost an hour. Daiya had bought both of them two glasses of iced tea (Kiyotaka insisted that he paid for it but Daiya managed to convince him that it was fine and iced teas weren't that expensive anyway).
"Aren't actors supposed to be busy?" Kiyotaka asked.
"Yep. I'm actually on vacation right now. Once my break is done, I'll go out of town again," Daiya said before pulling down his mask to sip his tea.
Kiyotaka suddenly remembered something, "Ah! Mondo must be worried about me! I have to get home soon."
He stood up and was about to walk away but Daiya grabbed his hand.
"Could ya give me yer number? Just so that we could be in touch since ya hadn't been texting me at all since the last time I've met ya," Daiya sheepishly held up a napkin and a pen with his other hand.
"Sure," Kiyotaka quickly scribbled down his number and gave the napkin to Daiya.
"By the way.. who's Mondo? Is he a.. roommate?" Daiya asked.
"Yes," in a way, Kiyotaka thought. "I'll go now. Thank you so much for inviting me with you. I promise that I'll repay you. Goodbye," he said before walking away. Daiya waved at Kiyotaka as he went out of sight.

He walked home as quickly as he could. He had to walk past the alleyway once again. It still smelled as horrible as before and it reminded him of the horrible image he saw earlier. The thought made him broke into a sprint. He wanted to stay away from the scene as far away as possible.
He let himself catch his breath once he arrived at his doorstep. He fumbled with his keys and unlocked the front door.
