Mondo snuggled into the figure in his embrace as he slept.
Actually, he wasn't exactly sleeping. He was in some sort of a power saving mode.
Mondo just realised that the figure he was hugging wasn't emitting heat. Perhaps the room was just cold…
But then he realised that the figure wasn't breathing either.
Mondo sat up quickly. He went to check if Kiyotaka was still alive or not but he found out that he was hugging a pillow instead of the boy.
"Kiyotaka?" Mondo called out, voice laced in distress. But there was no answer.
He got up from the bed and walked to the living room, looking for him. He called out again, "Taka?"
He searched every nook and cranny of the house. The bathroom, the empty bedroom, the kitchen, inside the wardrobes, cabinets, and fridge, but there was still no sign of his Kiyotaka.
Mondo was about to literally break down the house's walls to try and find Kiyotaka but then he remembered that he had work once a week.
Why didn't he tell Mondo this morning that he was going to work early? Mondo would rather die than leaving Kiyotaka alone, risking him to be hurt again.
He ran outside the house (not forgetting to lock the door behind him with the keys Kiyotaka left behind). He looked around, hoping to find if Kiyotaka was still roaming around on the streets but found no one. His eyes stopped at Leon and Hiro's much bigger house near and decided to ask them about Kiyotaka's whereabouts.
He banged at the door. It took a few minutes before Hiro answered the door.
"Damn, would you stop bangin' on the door? Just because it's 10 pm doesn't mean that no one's trying to sle- Oh, hey, uh… Mondo. What brings you here?" Hiro stared at Mondo weirdly.
"Where's Kiyotaka?" he asked in a seemingly menacing tone. It wasn't intentional. He just couldn't help it. He needed to find Kiyotaka now.
Hiro, intimidated, tried to answer his question as best as he could, "Er.. I dunno. I'm not that close to Taka but I think he goes to work every saturday… I thought you of all people would know that…"
Mondo stayed quiet, staring at Hiro.
He already knew that Kiyotaka went to work every saturday. Such useless information, he thought.
Without another word said, he walked away.
"I didn't know aliens were this rude…" Hiro muttered to himself.

His next lead was Makoto, the cashier that seemed close to Kiyotaka. He heavily disliked the guy but he needed to have a chat with him for Kiyotaka's sake.
He entered the store and immediately went to the cashier. Good thing that there were little to no people here. He approached Makoto as the shorter boy was texting on his phone.
"Hello-" he greeted and looked up from his phone. Once he saw the man before him, his cheerful demeanor dissipated, small beads of sweat starting to form on his face.
"-K-Kiyotaka's friend! What can I help you wi-"
"Where is Kiyotaka?" he asked in a menacing tone. This time, he was intentionally being intimidating because he already disliked the presence of the cashier.
"Kiyotaka?" he was taken aback by the question, "Um.. he works at a grocery store kinda close from here. The building is quite big so I'm sure you won't have a hard time finding it," he answered nervously.
Mondo nodded and quickly exited the store. Makoto let out a sigh of relief after he was gone. That man was scary, he thought.
