Chapter 4

Kiyotaka was in the hallway, right in front of his classroom's door.

He quietly opened the door and peeked into the classroom. It was filled with his classmates. They were all playing, talking, and having fun together.

Kiyotaka slowly walked into the class, preparing himself to greet his classmates.

Right as he stepped foot into the class, everyone's head snapped towards him.

The happy, cheerful mood suddenly disappeared. Everyone was staring at him with either an expressionless face or a scowl.

Why were they all staring at him like that?

"You always ruin everything, Taka," a voice echoed in his head.

Before Kiyotaka knew it, he was shaking. He clenched his chest as his breathing quickened and he felt that he was hyperventilating.

Kiyotaka's eyes snapped open. He felt cold sweat on his forehead and tears running down to the side of his face.

The first thing he saw was an ominous purple coloured irises staring at him in the dark. He also heard a soft whirring because it was so quiet. It spooked him a bit.

Kiyotaka squinted his eyes to try and see in the dark better, "Mondo, Is that you?"

Mondo didn't answer Kiyotaka's question. Instead, he only said, "Laptop."

"Huh?" Kiyotaka propped himself up using his arm and slowly sat up on the bed.

"It ran out of battery," Mondo held out Kiyotaka's laptop, making a quiet mechanical sound in the process.

"Wait. Let me turn on the lights. I can't really see in the dark," Kiyotaka said. He then got up from the bed after doing small stretches and walked over to the wall next to the door, where his light switch would be.

He tripped on something and fell.

"Ah!" Kiyotaka yelped.

Mondo only stared at Kiyotaka, watching him who was on the floor.

"Sorry Mondo! I think I tripped over your foot," Kiyotaka stood up and patted the very little amount of dust from his clothes.

After Kiyotaka had managed to find the light switch and turned on the lights, he turned around to meet Mondo but he was already right behind him.

Kiyotaka jumped in surprise and laughed nervously, "You surprised me."

Mondo ignored Kiyotaka's reaction and held out the laptop again, "Can you charge it?"

Kiyotaka grasped the laptop and hissed at how hot it was.

"I'll charge it later," Kiyotaka walked past Mondo to place his laptop on his table. "By the way, how long have you been using it?" Kiyotaka's head turned back towards Mondo.

Mondo narrowed his eyes and Kiyotaka could hear the whirring sound get louder, "From..." Mondo closed his eyes and furrowed his eyebrows to focus on remembering,"Around 7 or 8 pm when you lend it to me."

"What time is it now?" Kiyotaka muttered to himself and looked at the clock on the wall.

"It's 5:53 in the morning! You've been using it for at least 9 hours!" Kiyotaka yelled in disbelief.

He pointed a finger towards Mondo, "Next time, if you're using my laptop and it was starting to get really hot, turn it off or else it'll overheat!" he lectured.

Mondo growled. He was definitely not enjoying Kiyotaka's scolding.

Kiyotaka sighed, "I'm going to make breakfast. I apologize for my outburst."
