Kiyotaka had heard about androids multiple times. After k...
Except for the fact that a seemingly ominous android would always be waiting for Kiyotaka to finish college right outside the campus building which would sometimes get both of them stares from other people.
Or the fact that Kiyotaka was having trouble following Mondo's curfew. He was so used to staying up all night studying that he sometimes had trouble sleeping at an earlier time. Especially with the not-so-rare occurances of nightmares. But with Mondo's help, he managed to sleep soundly every night.
It was finally saturday and it was time for Kiyotaka to go to work. He glanced back at Mondo who was behind him with his arms wrapped around Kiyotaka's torso while emitting soft whirring noises.
Knowing that Mondo would insist on coming to work with him, he would have to be sneaky in getting himself out of Mondo's grip as to not alert him.
He swiftly slipped out of Mondo's embrace and quickly placed a pillow against him so that he was hugging the pillow instead.
Seeing Mondo hadn't moved a limb, Kiyotaka let out a quiet sigh of relief. He proceeded to do his morning routine.
-
He arrived at his workplace. His job was pretty similar to Makoto's except that Kiyotaka worked at a grocery store and he worked as a stocker instead of a cashier.
He entered the building and was greeted by the cashier, Hajime.
"Morning, Kiyotaka. I thought your shift is supposed to start at around noon," he questioned him.
"Good morning, Hajime. I have decided to work more hours so that I could gain more income. My bills have increased recently," specifically electrical bills, he thought.
Hajime gave Kiyotaka a sympathetic look, "Wow, that sucks. Don't overwork yourself, okay?" he advised.
Kiyotaka nodded. He went to the backroom to change to his uniform and grab some supplies to restock the shelves.
-
He placed the last bag of chips onto the shelves. They always run out so easily.
Grabbing his box full of items, he walked over to the next aisle, careful not to bump into anyone in the process. He stopped in front of another section of the shelves and stared at it to look for any empty space on it.
"Hey, kid." a muffled voice said.
He flinched violently, almost dropping his box.
"Oh shit- sorry for startling ya."
He turned his head and saw a tall man down the aisle. He was wearing a face mask, a pair of sunglasses, and a cap. Kiyotaka raised an eyebrow at the man. Why was he wearing sunglasses indoors? And why did he seem familiar?

The man started, "So.. do you know where's the-"
"Are you a thief?" Kiyotaka asked.
"W-what?! No! Of course not," he said nervously.
"Then why are you wearing things that conceal your face? Your sunglasses are also making you look suspicious," he pointed out.
"I- uh... I'm... blind...?" that sounded more like a question than a statement.
"Then how are you able to be aware of my presence without bumping into me?" he questioned.
"Uh... er..." the man seemed even more nervous than before. "Alright, ya got me. But I ain't no thief, mr detective."
Kiyotaka furrowed his eyebrows at the nickname, "Then why are you dressed like that?"
The man glanced around before he leaned towards Kiyotaka and whispered, "I'm tryin' to keep attention away from me."
Kiyotaka tilted his head, "Doesn't looking like that attract even more attention?"
The man groaned, "No, ya don't get it."
He glanced around a few more times before he took off his sunglasses, showing his lavender coloured irises. He pulled down his face mask a bit to show his nose and mouth.
Kiyotaka squinted his eyes, "You seem.. familiar. You look like a friend of mine," he muttered.
The man chuckled and pulled his face mask back up, "No shit- wait ya still don't know me?" he stared at the smaller employee in disbelief.
Kiyotaka shook his head, "Who are you?" he asked.
The man let out another chuckle, "Yer' funny. I like ya." He put his sunglasses back on, "As I was saying... do ya know where the candy section is?"
He thought for a while before answering, "Yes. I can lead you there."
As they walked there, the bigger man started rambling, "Ya see, for some reason, the vending machine I like to buy candy and crap from is gone now because apparently, some rando broke it and the guys who own it thought it ain't worth it to fix it."
"That is unfortunate," he commented as he looked at the signs above to look for the aisle.
"I know right?" He complained, "The worst part is that I can't find any other vending machines that sell the same candy that I like. And no, I didn't even want to go to a store to restock my sweets supply but here I am."
"Why don't you just.. not eat sweets?"
"Hah! As if- Oh there it is!" he ran over to the shelves of candy and grabbed bags of it into his basket.
Kiyotaka cringed at the amount of candy he was buying and silently sent condolences to the man's poor teeth.
Seeing as he had done his job, he decided to go back and restock some shelves. But then he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned his head.
The man held out a piece of paper towards Kiyotaka, "Here's my number. Feel free to call me anytime."
After taking the piece of paper with one hand, the man tilted his glasses down and gave Kiyotaka a wink. He walked away before Kiyotaka could reply.
He looked down to read what was on the paper.
