[ chapter thirty: hermia ]

° • ° • °

Hermia dreamed she was back at the Salvatore Estate, but this time all she saw was tress and overgrown weeds. Her best friend's house was gone and as Mia looked around she realized she was standing at what used to be the entrance. The morning light felt warm on Hermia's skin, but she couldn't help but be confused. She didn't understand why she was back here or why Stefan's house was completely gone.

Maybe his family had remodeled the house, but if that was true than where was it? Everything Mia used to remember was gone. From the looks of it so was Stefan.

Mia gazed around the trees again, when she heard movement from beside her. When she turned to look, she noticed a young man walking up to her.

"Hermia?" He asked.

The voice sounded so familiar, but Mia didn't want to believe it was him. Maybe Gaea had gotten into her dream again and was trying to trick her. But as he got closer, she realized that Gaea had nothing to do with this.

Once he was standing in front of her, Mia took in a deep breath. The male sent her a heart warming smile and as Hermia gazed into his forest green eyes, she realized she finally felt peace.

After everything that happened with Jason and the group, Mia finally felt like she could breath again. In this moment she didn't have to worry about Gaea or the fact that Jason didn't trust her. No. With Stefan she knew she didn't have to prove herself to him because he trusted her with his life. Stefan had always been the one to trust her above everyone else.

Lysander and Demetrius had always trusted her as well, but there was just something about Stefan that made Mia feel whole. He was her best friend after all and she loved him more than anything.

"Is this real or am I dreaming again?" Hermia couldn't help but ask.

"I think it's safe to say that you're dreaming, but I'm very much real." His smile never once left his lips.

Hermia watched him for a moment. "How is this possible? What am I doing here?" Stefan grabbed her hand softly and pulled her down to sit with him. As they sat together on the grass, Mia was able remember the old times when they used to do this. They had always spent so many hours talking outside. In this moment it was like nothing had changed between them.

"The last dream I had of you left me confused..." Stefan started off. "So that day when I woke up, I went straight to Sander's and Demetri's house. I told them everything that happened. That I had woken up in my old room, that I walked to the door, and when I opened it you were there waiting for me."
