I had taken Tasha up on being her guardian, but I couldn't be her boyfriend... no matter how much she'd tried to come on to me. I still loved Rose, but we couldn't be together. Friends after graduation and once she was assigned? Yeah, that we could do. Hopefully without stuffing anything up. But a relationship, which was sure to kill us time and again in many different ways? No. That we couldn't because we were too duty driven. That's not to say I was completely happy. I wasn't. It was nice to guard a friend again, but Tasha loved me in a way I couldn't reciprocate... as for the woman whose love I did reciprocate, I wasn't allowed to.

It was currently spring and Easter break, and various disasters had apparently struck back at the Academy. Ones I couldn't help Rose sort out. Oh Roza, my dearest and most precious Roza, you have no clue how my heart beats just for you. It always has and always will.

Christian was visiting Tasha for the break. And Rose had turned up to continue her field experience. I'd been able to finally have a nice, easy, friendly and guilt free conversation with her before dinner last night.

But our civility may be about to be tested and strained again. I had knocked on Christian's door, which was also Rose's since Tasha had only prepared one room as she was under the impression Lissa was the one accompanying Christian. (With the intention of asking Rose, and maybe also Christian, to train.) That knock went unanswered, so I opened the door just a crack, to find a sight that almost made me sick to my stomach.
Christian Ozera was already awake, and in his bed was the young woman I love. Not only was she in his bed, she was far too close to him, far too intimately close to his body. As if the entanglement wasn't sickening enough, I could see his admiring, tender and nearly loving expression, and that his hands were all over her sleeping form, oh so gently and reverently tracing and learning the lines and curves of her body. The most bitter part of the bitter pill to swallow was that I could clearly see just how relaxed, at ease, and peaceful she looked. Her face scrunched up when Christian stopped tracing to change to simply embracing the young dhampir woman in his bed. The hardest thing to accept was that he could very well start something long term with her, if he hadn't already... that thought terrified me. Petrified me, in all reality.
"Who said you could stop?" Rose mumbled as she looked up at the male Moroi longingly... that exact same longing expression had been directed at me.
"I..." Christian was uncharacteristically nervous and shy around the beauty in his bed, in his arms. I wanted to run out, kick and scream and pull my hair out. But I was frozen in place, because surely, surely they weren't involved, to any degree, were they? I didn't want, I couldn't stand for, Rose being taken advantage of. Or would she be? Christian was moral, incredibly so. At least where girls were concerned. "I wanted to kiss you again," he sheepishly admitted. That had my blood boiling and my heart shattering. They were involved, to some degree they were already somewhat involved.
"That would be nice," Rose smiled and blushed a little. Her best friend's ex brought his lips to hers. He kissed her softly and she returned the soft kiss. One of the boy's hands traced her cheek then her body. The kiss deepened when he pulled her closer and her leg hitched itself around his waist and she flipped them and gave all of her to their activity. They could very well end up having sex right here and now... just as I had nearly had with her under the charm. That was the thought that had me shutting the door and running out of the house, feeling completely sick and heartbroken.

I was running my hands over Christian's bare chest, just as his were exploring my bare back, my hips and waist... and my ass under his boxers. His body and being was making me feel warm, safe and happy for the first time in weeks. And he and this was turning me on in ways I'd never thought possible for him. He was the most attractive Moroi I'd set eyes on-especially with the toning our training had given him.

Christian was about to rip my sleep tank top off when he uttered three words that had the power to kill this massive make out right now, or send us all the way. "I love you," said Christian against my lips. "Rose Hathaway, I love you." That was when I realised just how much I loved him too... and it was in no way brotherly, not anymore, not after all we'd been through and all the bonding that had occurred.
"I love you. Christian Ozera, I truly do love you." I meant it.
