Finding Grace

Danny's P.O.V

My eyes opened and I rolled over to hold Mia when I realized she wasn't laying next to me. I sat up and got out of bed sliding a shirt on, I opened the bedroom door hearing laughter so my eyebrow rose as I walked down the hallway to Grace's bedroom. I peeked through the cracked door to see Mia and Grace laughing while playing, a smile appeared on my face as I stood there and watched. After watching for a minute I walked away and went downstairs to the kitchen, I started making a bowl of cereal when one of the floorboards creaked, I turned around to see Mia standing there.

Me:"Morning babe."
Mia:"Morning, you just wake up?"
Me:"Yea, I heard you and Grace so I didn't bother you."
Mia:"Sorry if we woke you.."
Me:"Its okay, you two didn't wake me."
Mia:"Okay good, since your up you need to get dressed after you eat."
Me:"Why?"
Mia:"The governor wants to see us remember, figured we could go do that before Luke and them gets here."
Me:"I honestly forgot he wanted to see us."

Grace walked in,

Grace:"Dads up."
Mia:"I noticed."-she laughed-

Grace sat down at the island staring at me,

Me:"What?"
Grace:"You two are leaving aren't you?"
Mia:"Only for an hour. Then we'll be back I promise."
Grace:"Okay."
Me:"I'll call Steve and see if he can watch you."
Grace:"No not uncle Steve."
Me:"Why not?"
Grace:"Grandpa John."

I smiled and nodded,

Me:"Of course."
Grace:"Yes!"

Mia shook her head and called her dad. Once she hung up I rinsed out the bowl and went upstairs to get dressed.

Mia's P.O.V

I grabbed a red bull opening it and took a drink. I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist so I looked to see Danny, I smiled and he pulled away. A moment later the front door opened and both Steve and dad walked into the kitchen,

Me:"Thanks for watching Grace."
John:"Not a problem, she's the only grandchild I have, have to spend as much time with her as I can."
Me:"Gee dad, don't make it sound like your dying."
John:"Thats not what I meant."

We all laughed,

Me:"I know, well we'll be back in an hour."
Danny:"Behave for John."
Grace:"Its grandpa John and I will."

Danny shook his head and Steve left with us.

-20 minutes later-

I pulled into a parking spot to see that Konos car was already here. We all got out and walked inside, one of the security guards led us to the governors office, he opened the door and we walked inside the office. The door shut and the governor stood up,

Governor:"Morning everyone."
Me:"Morning."
Governor:"The reason why you are here today is, I wanted to thank you all personally for catching Wo Fat, I'm sorry his partner was your mother."
Me:"She chose the wrong side to be on. That's on her."
Governor:"Indeed it is. I have guards at the maximum security keeping a close eye on those two. Don't need them escaping."
Me:"No we don't but if they do I'll go after them myself."
Governor:"Glad to hear that. Anyway, you all have the day off, I'm sure the whole chase was very exhausting."
Me:"It was but not that exhausting."

The governor chuckled but stopped once his phone rang,

Governor:"Excuse me for a moment."

He answered the phone as I stared out the window as Danny started to open the door but stopped once the tone in the governors voice changed. I walked closer to his desk as he hung up the phone, he didn't look at me which he didn't have to,
