Hoseok isn't sure why your parents hadn't planned more than one dinner together since the initial engagement and wedding. He thinks it's probably because they sensed that things were rocky from the jump-and it hadn't helped that Hoseok had damn near disappeared for most of your marriage, under the guise of work. Now that he really was buried in work, they, for obvious reasons, wouldn't take no for an answer.

Not that Hoseok was directly opposed to it, just that ... your two families couldn't be any more different if they tried. And yet, despite all odds, his reserved, uptight, snobby parents positively adored yours. More than that they adored you. Hoseok had to sit through a good two hours of his mother's incessant praising when he passed along the dinner invitation. He could absolutely understand why but Hoseok just hadn't realized the extent of the groundwork you laid while he was away. And somehow that just kept coming up. Whether or not you spoke about it didn't matter. It was something that was burned into his brain, something he felt like he had to make up for. In fact you were insistent he relax, your exact words were-

"You're the only one stuck in the past Hoseok," you say, arms around his neck after his near year absence comes up again. You put a hand to his cheek, "How are we supposed to move forward if you keep looking back?"

"How are you okay with it?" He whines, burying his head in your neck. "How can you not want me to get what I deserve?"

"Because I see you now. I see you beating yourself up over it and that's punishment enough for me," you laugh and lift his chin, "If you really want to make it better then show me how much you care now. Be good to me now. Be sweet to me now."

Hoseok cups your cheeks and kisses you slow, lazy like the Sunday morning you spent in bed. He could spend all morning kissing you, touching you, loving you. He would too if you'd let him.

How things had ended up so vastly different from that morning he doesn't know. How he ended up in your childhood bedroom after excusing himself to the bathroom, he doesn't know.

"What are you doing in here?" Jimin asks, eyes narrowed in suspicion. He saw the door cracked and assumed you had come up for something. Much to his surprise, you aren't the first person he sees.

Hoseok jumps, cheeks flushed with guilt but not for what he was thinking. Jimin enters the room with the posture of an older brother about to kill his sister's boyfriend. Only-

"Where's ___?" Jimin snaps and Hoseok blinks a couple times like a deer in the headlights.

"That's a good question." Hoseok nods, but doesn't elaborate further.
