the morning came and its been awhile since you slept soundly. your eyes looked around in search for the adeptus, but he was no where near your sight.
with your hair all over the place, you tried patting it down as you made your way down the inn.
'maybe xiao is by the balcony again' you thought to yourself, but as soon as you've reached the area. he was still nowhere to be found.
"are you looking for xiao?" a lady with brown hair asked,
"ah, yes. did you happen to know where he went?" you asked
"hes always in the inn when time allows him to. he's a busy person." she explained, "stay in the room for awhile. we'll be catering your needs for the next four months."
'so she knows the contract.' you thought
"you should head back to the room, for your safety."
"ah who are you again?"
"im the owner of this inn. please do make yourself comfortable."
and with that, you marched your way back to the room xiao led you in last night.
"how could he leave without a word.." you mumbled, "he could've woken me up!" you suddenly exclaimed
it was the adeptus wasn't around to keep you company, but that meant you had more time to think and clarify the deal you made.
the conditions
and the payment
"adeptus xiao.. can you hear me?" you suddenly said as you sat on the bed.
"i hope you hear me."
"will you come back later?"
"let's complete the details of our deal."
"ill be waiting for you."
| third person pov |
xiao heard everything. he was doing his duties on jueyun karst. he quietly sat down the ground as the wind blew softly.
"ill be waiting for you." she said, as xiao hears every prayer, every wish, and every hoping thought.
"i see someone has been looking for you." cloud retainer said, "does your work allow you to see that mortal?"
"she's fairly.. interesting.." the elegant adeptus followed, eyeing from afar.
"no need to look into what i do."
"ill be leaving now." xiao said to his fellow adepti as he swiftly took his staff and prepared to make a jump.
"so soon?" it asked.
"someone's waiting for me. i must come to those who call out my name."
— xiao —
finding more information about that mere mortal, wasn't easy. her essence and entirety were hard enough to track down. moreover, someone from the archon war.
it came to a time where i needed to go back, but travelling back to the inn never felt more exhausting. with someone constantly whining in their thoughts, the travel couldn't be more soundly.
i let out a sigh as this unusual mortal kept mentioning, adeptus xiao.
"adeptus xiao, i'm bored."
"i wonder if you can hear me??"
"will i be stuck here without you for the next four months?"
"when will you be baccckkkk, i have so many questions ahead!"
"you're rather noisy, mortal." i said as i stood beside her by the balcony
"eek!" she made a frightful sound.
"yes, i heard you. yes, you'll be here without me for the next four months, and those questions better be off our deal." i said while crossing my arms.
"oh.. so.. uh? you heard everything?" she asked as she faced me
"unfortunately."
"are you that busy?"
"what an awfully weird question." i said as i gave her a stoic look.
"it would be a shame to be bounded, yet left to be all alone." she said in a rather sad manner.
she gazed out as breeze twinkled and danced.
"i would like to spend my remaining time with you, will it be alright to take me alongside your ventures?" she asked; still gazing afar.
"if that is what you wish for in this contract, then i have no reason to disagree."
"that would be great."
"but what will be your conditions in exchange?" she asked, with not the slightest intention of looking right back at me.
with no intention to get attached, "we part quietly." i said.
"there would be no problem with that." she said and stretched her arms.
"did you see what you needed to see?" she followed with a question.
"i've seen some questionable information about you."
"i didn't get to see it all in one go, yet," i paused as i stared at the mark at her hand.
"yet?"
"how are you still here?" i asked her with her face showing all sorts of befuddled emotions.
"what do you mean?"
"let me confirm your identity," i said as i held her close to make a jump from the balcony
"h-hey! what are you doing?" she started to panic as she closed her eyes.
"i need you to hold on tight," i said as she clung onto me like her life depended on it.
and with that, i took the jump
in mid air i called out to her, "(full name)"
she was afraid, yet she opened her eyes to look right into mine,
"from the small township of qingce village."
"you've wandered this land for more than 2000 years.."
i said as we plunged down a valley of flowers, "are you really.. human?"
