Him and I

chapter 5

"would you maybe like to go somewhere?" Remus says whispering slightly and sirius tilts his head.

there was a pause.

"sure. let me just get my jacket" sirius smiles and goes over to the hanger, picking up his leather jacket, throwing it round his shoulders as remus slips on some shoes.

remus then takes Lily's keys from the side and leads the way out of the house. he gets in the car and starts the engine as sirius joins him.

"where are we going?" he asks looking at remus.

remus turns to him and then concentrated on the road as he drives "you'll see."

remus drives for about 20 minutes until he reaches an abandoned car park. he goes to the very top of the car park where there was a barrier keeping the ledge there safe. remus stops the car and gets out, shortly followed by sirius who was looking around in amazement at the starry sky and amazing view.

"woah. how did you know about this place?" sirius walks over to remus who had sat himself on the ledge.

"i used to live in london. going back 3 years ago i moved up north" remus says with a smile looking around and then glancing up at sirius.

he was still looking around amazed and remus couldn't help but find it adorable. he hesitates at first but slowly leans his head onto sirius's shoulder who then slowly leans his head on Remus's.

"thank you.." sirius whispers causing slight confusion to remus.

"what could you possibly be thanking me for?" remus asks slowly pulling back to look at sirius.

sirius stays looking down at the view around them before turning his glance to find a big pair of green eyes.

"just... for all of this" sirius begins "you barely know me but you still treat me as kindly as you treat your friends"

Remus listens to the tone in Sirius' voice. it seemed rather shaky. he keeps his eyes focused on sirius, his eyes wandering to his hands as he watches him nervously fiddle with his jacket. Remus didn't exactly know what he was doing. he felt like he had no control over his brain at this point. he moves his hand to gently lock with Sirius'. Sirius moves his eyes to look at their hands before he intertwines their fingers. Remus sighs relieved that he didn't upset Sirius with his gesture.

"you're welcome..." remus whispers back.

after spending hours of getting to know each other, laughing and looking around at the pretty london view, sirius and remus noticed they had lost track of time.

it was now 2:03 AM. by the time they had arrived home, remus and sirius had bid each other goodnight and gone straight to sleep.

sirius wakes up the next morning to a heavy weight sat at the end of his bed. he rubs his eyes and rolls off of his front to see james sat there looking at him. sirius raises his eyebrows.

"where were you last night?" james asks him with a voice full of concern.

"good morning to you too" sirius falls back onto the bed pulling the covers up.

james immediately pulls them off earning a groan from sirius who now scrambled to sit up.

"do you understand how worried i was? i was only minding my own business and then noticed your door was wide open but your bed was empty" james says turning his body to face sirius.

"tell me honestly. were you out somewhere smoking?" james says his eyes piercing through sirius.

sirius laughs and rolls his eyes "dont be ridiculous james. i made you a promise"

sirius looks to james and tilts his head.

"i was with remus actually-" sirius starts his words being cut off halfway through.

"-YOU WHAT??" james screams immediately getting shushed by sirius.

"keep it down will you" sirius says pointing slightly to the wall in between his room and remus'.

james lifts his hands slightly as if to say "sorry" all whilst raising his eyebrows.

"we just went to this spot remus really likes. turns out he used to live here" sirius replies rubbing his eyes.

james looks at sirius straight in the eyes as if he were trying to read him. sirius looks at him, eyebrows raised "can i help you?"

james then charges at sirius catching him in a headlock and ruffling his hair.

"hey-hey! get off me!" sirius yelled trying to fight out of james' grasp.

"someone's in love!" james screeched

before sirius could protest, they were interrupted by lily screaming next door.

"Remus Lupin I swear!"

james and sirius rush to the door, swinging it open and looking out.

"Remus let me in!" she said banging the door.

"Lily let me get dressed goddamnit" remus' voice came muffled from behind the door.

james laughs slightly and raises his eyebrows "what did the poor kid do now?"

"what didn't he do" lily says with a sigh.

Remus opens the door frantically. his clothes were scruffily shoved on and his hair was all over the place. he rubs his eyes before looking around at them all. he noticed sirius' eyes stuck to him and looks away rather embarrassed.

lily glares at him and folds his arms "where the fuck were you last night?"

remus squints his eyes thinking back to last night, spending lots of time with sirius and getting to know small things about him.

before remus could reply sirius spoke up. "oh! don't worry he was with me"

lily blinked emotionless at sirius and then looked back at remus.

"what?!" she screams in excitement slightly causing remus close his eyes.

"too loud- way too loud" remus groans and lily nudges him.

"what did you guys do?" she asks and sirius laughs slightly.

"i just showed him around a bit" he shrugs and lily grins brightly.

"look at you making friends!" she then puts her hand on her heart "oh how proud i am watching my boy go out into the big world"

she says this dramatically causing remus to get all embarrassed. lily then looks to james and nods at him.

"alright potter go get ready. we have to pay a visit to the owner remember?" lily asks causing a sigh from james as he walks back into his room.

"no need to remind me evans"

this causes lily and sirius to laugh. lily turns back to remus who was smirking at her. she goes bright red before clearing her throat and running off to her own room.
