"can't believe I'm doing this?" Espio asked with confusion and tiredness

for some reason, charmy was so insistent in seeing how fast and long his tongue was

Espio blamed vector for showing him the videos of the past where he used it in battle

he destroyed these tapes too late as charmy wouldn't stop bothering him about it

to shut him up Espio decided just to let him finally win

the bee was now balancing an apple for target practice a few meters away

His tongue was 1.5 times the length of the small reptile's body

From his resting state, his tongue can extend six times to reach its full length

and could accelerate to 100 kilometres per hour in one-hundredth of a second, extending two and a half times its body length to pluck something out of the air

and that something was going to be the apple resting on the bees head

"come on already!" charmy whined in excitement whilst bouncing

Espio had no idea of why the child was this excited

probably because the business had been slow recently

"Alright, but keep bouncing everywhere and your going to get slapped right in the face" Espio warned

this instantly caused the bee to freeze, not wishing to get tongue face slapped

"ready?" Espio asked

"ready!" charmy shouted excitedly

with that Espio simply sighed and began to target the apple

opening his moment as he targeted and when he was ready shot it out like a rocketing bullet

only for the bee to shout a "wait" and ducked "wait!"

unfortunately, this was too late as Espio already fired

it missed the apple and the bee

but landed on something much worse

the side of a street lamp

"chtharmy!" Espio growled in annoyance as he tried to retrieve his tongue

only it didn't unattached from the post

Espio tried walking further to create force

only that seemed to slingshot him straight into the pole with a clunk

"oof, shhhh, owch" charmy let out as saw the bruise already beginning to form on the chameleons head, luckily it wasn't his horn as he was certain it could have broken

"you ok Espio?" Charmy asked in worry as the chameleon got back on his feet, unfortunately, tongue still stuck

"mmm, thine" Espio let out as he continued to unlatch himself

(must be because of the weather) charmy thought to himself, seeing that it was getting closer to winter so everything was becoming more and more frozen

but looking back charmy couldn't help but let out a chuckle

his usually very serious and mysterious teammate/older brother figure being stuck with his tongue on a pole like the movies, getting very irritated and trying his best to unlatch himself was too funny

"stepth lathing n help" Espio shouted in annoyance and frustration

the lisp didn't help matters as Charmy laughter began to increase

"Stharmy!" Espio called out angrily

Charmy saw the chameleon get annoyed and a little mad now and then

but that look on his face

it was pure extreme anger

and the little bee couldn't help but feel a little guilty for this current predicament

"ok, ok, what do you want me to do?" charmy asked as he wiped the tears from his eyes

"geth soming warm an place t as cloth s oh canth" Espio ordered

it took charmy

a few minutes before he understood what Espio had said

"ok, you stay here...not that you have a choice" charmy laughed which resulted in Espio simply rolling his eyes

when charmy returned, the chameleon almost reached for his kunai to slice it off

"got it," Charmy said happily as he came back with a supply of hot objects

a recently used hairdryer (no idea where he got that) and a recently used kettle

"army no!" Espio yelled in fear

"give me that!" a new voice entered the air

to Espio's relief shadow the hedgehog had seen the scene, a little bee holding a warm kettle and a tongue stuck chameleon to the street lamp

"shadow?!" both voices asked as the darkshadow pushed the bee away

instead of answering them shadow grabbed Espio's hands with his own and placed them on the pole

"you were right to find something warm, but very badly calculated the amount of heat needed" shadow grumbled, not to really to anyone but himself

"well, what do you suggest?" Charmy asked, trying to hide away his embarrassment

"I'd suggest simply placing your hands on the pole but by the colour of the chameleon's skin you have been staying out here too long to generate enough heat" Shadow continued

both Espio's and shadows hands were now on the pole and very close to the tongue, and to espio's second relief it seemed his tongue was getting loose

"ok, we're going to pull away now, it's going to hurt so prepare yourself" shadow warned as he wrapped his hands around the chameleon's waist

only as they pulled away it seemed like they were just extending the tongue further and further, all the way back Espio had started to get that stupid apple

"why is it so long?!" Espio could hear shadow curse, seeming like he was being mocked

but once the tongue didn't extend any further they decided on the count of three they were going to pull away,

with a grunt of pain, Espio was finally free and unattached from the pole

the chameleon's tongue slung shot all the way back inside his mouth, which earnt the chameleon to cough in grotesque

there was no telling what type of germs were on those things which meant he was spitting up to get rid of the germs and the horrible taste

but as he spits out the taste, he found he was also spitting up blood

Espio let out the tip of his tongue back into the world to see that the end was bleeding quite a bit

"suspected as much, need to get that sorted" Shadow concurred as he saw the blood

the chameleon simply nodded, not finding the energy to use words and it was obvious his tongue really hurt

"let's get you inside and get you some saltwater" Shadow said as he directed the two to his apartment

"Ewwww" charmy groaned in disgust, the chameleons face indicating the same thoughts exactly

"it sounds gross but it'll help" shadow reassured,

"how do you know?" Charmy asked suspiciously

".... I just do" Shadow finished sheepishly
