Chameleon means "earth lion" in Greek

It was winter in mobius 

for many mobians this would be a festive time, getting ready for the winter fun that comes with the season 

building snow men 

throwing snow balls 

building ginger bread houses 

drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream 

ice skating 

and many, many more 

although it was a fun time for many 

for a specific team of detectives  

this wasn't the case 

a crocodile, a chameleon and a bee 

not three animals you would associate with this very frosty time 

"ugh, stupid cold" vector grumbled as he turned the heat up another few degrees 

to others, walking into the building would be like walking into a sauna 

but to the three detectives 

it was merely room temperature 

vector wanted nothing more then to hibernate like he would have done when he was younger

charmy was stuffing his face getting to hibernate, he couldn't go dormant like vector could as it wasn't in his nature/DNA 

he would have joint the small bee in the worlds longest nap if it wasn't for the third member 

vector wasn't blaming espio though, heck no 

it was simply that chameleons just didn't hibernate

chameleons instead change the colour of their skin to a darker shade to warm more quickly

aswell as becoming more sluggish and cannot digest food

vector felt bad for the ninja 

whilst he and charmy had a way out of the winters cold, espio simply didn't have that option 

therefore it was only right for vector as the leader/eldest of the group to help his teammate in this difficult time 

he was responsible to make sure that espio continued to stay warm and so he wouldn't starve

vector still remembered the first winter the three spent together 

charmy was just a toddler, about 2 years old, while vector was 16 and espio was 11

vector was getting charmy ready for hibernation, stuffing him up sand wrapping him up warm so he'll survive through the winter 

every last penny went to food and heating 

since the agency was new, yet very worn and used 

it meant that all heating went to just one room, if you exited it you would get massive gusts of freezing cold air  

they had just celebrated the festivities with their friends before shutting themselves of into the room 

it wasn't a tiny room however, plenty of space for all of them and more for about 3 others 

vector was becoming aware of espio's claustrophobia so he wanted the chameleon to feel comfortable 

charmy let out his last yawn before beginning his hibernation, vector laying him down in his crib giving the top of his head a kiss goodnight
