Now Vector knew the risks of when in this line of work

as did espio, having been told by Vector himself

at a time when charmy was still too young to go detecting with them with the more dangerous missions despite his protests

and a time when he was still getting used to bringing the smaller reptile with him to these more serious cases

This case in particular had wanted to never let him come out ever again

they had met some dastardly baddies in the past

but these guys

they played dirty,

could even give Eggman a run for their money

taking innocent civilians in the dead of night and to be mugged or ones they targeted would kidnap them if they had desirable powers they could abuse for their gain

and he and espio had just tracked them to a hidden warehouse

"no civilians that I can see vector and I locked them on the inside without their notice" Espio whispered as he reappeared to their scouting spot

"Good, I'll get the jump on them and you stay clear" Vector stated as he readied himself to jump from the skylight

"but vector I can-" Espio tried to argue but the crocodile stopped him instantly

"Esp, your job is to retrieve the money, leave this guy to me alright" Vector assured as he pointed to the room where they had seen the goods being stored

he didn't want to say the real reason was that he didn't want to be worrying about him while they fought, he knew esp was a skilled fighter but he fought fair

and as he said

and he witnessed this first-hand as he came toe to toe with them

many doing their best to tackle him at once, trying to throw sand in his eyes and break bottles to jab at him

however, they had very poor fighting techniques so it was easy to avoid

"Hey, guys! there's another one trying to steal from us!" a random part of the gang yelled as he ran into the room

"esp!" Vector yelled in shock

"hmm, seems your friend came across our little trap" the leader laughed as he stopped the croc from coming further

vector tried to see what they meant

a net over an invisible figure

"you touch a single penny in that room and it detects it, and shoots a net, a good little trick huh?" The leader asked with pride

espio instantly decloaked, needing to focus on getting out of the net before one of their minions could reach him

yanking it off and ducking down and running to where the room met further into the warehouse

"no you don't!" the guy yelled as he began to chase the smaller reptile

he was trapped but at the same time he saw an opportunity
